Recently I picked up a nice old Remington ScoreMaster 511-P. Last week I took it out with a box of ammo and set about to see what the rifle and my 57-year old eyes could do. It's been a long time, too long, since I went out to shoot just for the heck of it and I had a blast. Shooting a .22, with a peep sight, at a paper target took me back to the days when I first started shooting. The basic skills required to shoot accurately and consistently: patience, focus and concentration. It was extremely satisfying and I was impressed by how accurate the rifle is and pleasantly surprised how well I could shoot without the aid of a scope when I consentrated on the fundamentals. I have a feeling that I'll be spending a lot of time with that SpeedMaster this year and I know this fall I'll be shooting my G&H Sporter with a lot more confidence. So happy I have rediscovered the fun of shooting.

My family grew up with a 510P, it's an old and familiar friend. Downside, I've never shot open sights well and have always replaced them with peeps. TomP Our country, right or wrong. When right, to be kept right, when wrong to be put right. Carl Schurz (1829 - 1906)

...and then, unfortunately, age required replacing the peep sites with a scope. Shooting with a scope is way better than not shooting at all! NRA Benefactor Member US Navy Veteran
