DoublegunThe fun of shooting: what it's all about.
Recently I picked up a nice old Remington ScoreMaster 511-P. Last week I took it out with a box of ammo and set about to see what the rifle and my 57-year old eyes could do.
It's been a long time, too long, since I went out to shoot just for the heck of it and I had a blast. Shooting a .22, with a peep sight, at a paper target took me back to the days when I first started shooting. The basic skills required to shoot accurately and consistently: patience, focus and concentration. It was extremely satisfying and I was impressed by how accurate the rifle is and pleasantly surprised how well I could shoot without the aid of a scope when I consentrated on the fundamentals.
I have a feeling that I'll be spending a lot of time with that SpeedMaster this year and I know this fall I'll be shooting my G&H Sporter with a lot more confidence. So happy I have rediscovered the fun of shooting.
My family grew up with a 510P, it's an old and familiar friend. Downside, I've never shot open sights well and have always replaced them with peeps.

Michael Michalski...and then, unfortunately, age required replacing the peep sites with a scope. Shooting with a scope is way better than not shooting at all!
Outstanding! .22s put a whole bunch of fun into shooting!!!
