Did a little penetration test with water filled milk jugs with the following results:

.22CB long 29 gr 1 jug found in bottom
.22 CCI mini-mag 40gr HP 1 Jug found in bottom
.22 short HP 29 gr 1 jug found in bottom
.22 PMC subsonic 38 gr HP 3 jugs found in 4th
.22 Rem subsonic 40 gr 2 jugs found in 3rd
.17 HM2 1 jug found in bottom
.17HMR CCI 17 gr 2 jugs found in bottom

Not sure this proved much, but the PMC was certainly impressive. It is a very effective round for small game too.

If you get a chance try the Stinger rounds from CCI. I shoot those and love em.

I'd figure .22 short would penetrate further. My .22 pellet gun shoots through a gallon of water every time. I guess I kinda brought this topic back.

Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too!

Besides the Stinger, the Velocitor would be interesting... Great squirrel medicine here abouts...
