Can an author of a thread delete it as well?

I have a stupid thread informing someone that they have a PM from me and tried to do away with it after he realized it.

You can in a short period.

But I did it for you.

No extra charge, just part of your monthly subscription costs.

Great....I think most of us have a thread that degraded into a pissing match totally unrelated to the thread title!.....I got one now on hydrostatic shock that I'd dump in a heartbeat if I could!

What and lose those 6 pages of insightful discussion?

I can kill it if you really want. You started it, you can end it.

My question brings up a problem as you say.

If you give folks the ability to delete their threads, possibly good information could be lost forever.

On second thought, it may not be a good idea.

Thoughts?

There is no problems deleting threads such as the one mentioned here.

But, we generally prefer not to deleted threads just because the starter of that thread has asked for it.

I think it is better to leave it as an example of how things can go south, and may be get members to think before they6 post something they do not wish to see remain here.

I think as the author, when you try to edit the OP there is an option to "close topic" which may be right up you're alley!

Yesterday it was there on my "APB has a PM" thread when I tried to edit the original post. I checked today and I guess an administrator deleted the thread for me.

I'm not sure what options are current.

Go to your OP
Hit the pencil eraser to edit
On the bottom left in the blue click "options"
3 pop up
1 is "close topic"

It doesn't work though.

I bet it's an "administrator only" option.

Yes....and the thread is now offering amusement to others....lets let the folks have fun!

I don't like seing a good thread decay....but this one is actually being of humor and other value.....even if it's "off the wall"
