I know there are a few posts about unguided caribou hunts on here already, but I was wondering if you guys could line me up with a decent outfitter that offers hunts in Aug. for caribou. I'd like to add a black bear if that's possible, too, but not necessary. I can't do a hunt any later than Aug. (I'm a college student), so if I can't do that, I would definately like to do an unguided spring black bear hunt in AK, probably in 2008. Any help you guys could give me would be great.

I heal fast and don't scar.

Check out PaPa Bear Adventures, http://www.pbadventures.com/.

I've used PaPa Bear, and I'd use them again (check out my recent hunt report). I've also had good recommendations for the other two. Also check out the Alaska OutdoorsDirectory, http://outdoorsdirectory.com/, for a wealth of Alaskan information.

It's a grand adventure, but don't forget the bug spray, head net, etc. in August.

If you are going to carry a big stick, you've got to whack someone with it at least every once in while.
