Have not thought of this for a while but looking for some good names for BrownBear for a spring hunt. Could even go next year if there are openings. Looking for a hunt 2x2 and prefer boat hunt again if at all possible. I think there are some outfitters in SE Alaska but I am not sure the bears are that big there. Advice please. I already have one 8 1/2 and one 10' 2" bear. Just love to hunt them. If anyone really has a hot idea please PM me as I forget to check this for several days sometimes.

Thanks

Check Mark Youngs post on Unit 17. Some nice bears were recently taken.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

Get with Phil Shoemaker, he could probably get you on a bear or 2. thumb You might also check with Brent Jones with AAA Alaskan Outfitters, he's taken some dandy bears over the years as well.

For a boat based hunt, Bruce Parker comes highly recommended.

Try Warren Johnson, Bear Lake Lodge. They got a 11' 6" bear last year. Good outfit, know them for years.

BigBear/ I am returning NOW to SE Alaska to hunt again with Brad Dennison out of Sitka. He ahs a good area & gives great effort to assure a great hunt. My hunting partner has hunted with Brad 4 times. Look for RECENT REPEATERS in references. You asked about a boat hunt; Brad's boat is very comfortable; great food.He is a fine person; would be proud to have him sit at my dinner table. I'm pretty sure he would be booked for 2008, but call 907-747-8759. Also try Dale Adams out of Sitka, but pick the right guide and right time of month for your hunt. Your time, your $$$ too important to rush into a hunt. Hope this helps/ Chaz

Have hunted SE Alaska several times and always had a great time. We hunted with James Boyce on 3 differnt hunts but I think I heard he sold his operation. We hunted Afognak Island last spring and hunted out of Afognak Wilderness Lodge. The hunts are on a draw but they are not impossible to get. It was a truly incredible hunt with the finest people you'll meet. Josh and Luke Randall were our guides. The hunts are conducted by boat and you return to the lodge every night (weather dependent). First class operation. Good luck wherever you end up. James
