So I am wanting to start entering the Alaska draw. Main goal is a nice dall.

I'm looking at 14c & TOK Areas, possibly with Lance Kronberger.

Anyone have any insight or suggestions on this or other areas as well as outfitters?

thanks
-bobby

You're with a good outfit. A friend of mine guided for him for a while. Nothing, but good to say about him. He'll steer you towards areas with big sheep. All you need to do is draw. That's the hard part.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

3% chance to draw if you put in for both TMA hunts (early + late)

I've been putting in forever and haven't drawn it yet. Frowner

I drew a permit for 14C back to back years and 3 years out of 5. Go figure. I generally am not a lucky guy, nor do I usually win anything, but for some reason I have had luck that defies the statistics when it comes to that draw. I took two sheep with those three permits. I will be applying again for next year, with the Sheep Terminator Dan Montgomery Alaska Trophy adventures. They took the Governor's permit guy last year and had an unbeleiveable year. I need a monster Sheep.....

On those three tags you should have tagged out on three exceptional rams, I'm thinking at least 37" or better. 14C is a well managed mecca for big sheep, wish the other areas had time and effort put in to by the biologists.
I got the privilege to guide my wife on her first sheep hunt this past season on her 14C tag, a great hunt, great hike in, and the pack out. Now she's hooked and wants to be put in for other areas within the unit. Yes, There's good ones in there, but me thinks the monsters are in 14A and 13D, if the late Spring don't kill them off again....good luck to all those awaiting the draw.

I think 13D is a good area. The trip I got nothing, I spent the entire season hunting. Sheep numbers were way down and I told the Biologist after my first hunt they were taking too many sheep. My Guide and Outfitter both agreed. I was not inpressed with the way Chugach Park was being managed, at that point in time you could get a good sheep near the park and have a better chance than inside the park. I don't know about what it is now, I will be applying and looking for nothing smaller than 40".

The biggest Sheep I saw on all three hunts was 38" on the long side and broomed on the other. We saw him at least three time and he was always above us and never closer than 600 yds. One of the two sheep I took was a lazed 440 yds., so I am not afraid to take a long shot. But, I know what my and my equipments limitations are and I am not the type of hunter to shoot for the sake of shooting and wounding a Sheep. That was a smart old sheep and he was better and smarted than we were. Even though I was unsuccessful, it was a great hunt. how many guys come home without and would say that ? The Outfitter rotated guides in and out when they had to leave and I kept hunting. At the end of the Sheep season I had a Guide and Dan Montgomery Guiding me and it still was not in the cards. By the time the sheep season was over the snow was knee deep and we were roped off to each other, when I went it it was t shirt weather. The Guides were relentless....
