Joel/AKThat place is a joke. Russ made every attempt possible to make his crew look incompetent, I'm sure he feels good because he was the savior of everything.
Sad part is is that he does have a good crew and the show does not help him in any way.
A lesson in irony
The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing this year the greatest amount of free Meals and Food Stamps ever, to 46 million people.
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us... "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because "The animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."
Thus ends today's lesson in irony.

Joel/AKBrett, if you think Russ doesnt have a say in what the final production is like you are high. Its his business and livelihood.
If you knew nothing about knights, and you had a dream hunt up here. You also seen these shows, would you bring a critter to a shop where the whole crew is incompetent? Doug knows his shit but according to the show he doesnt know about bleaching????? He's the foreman for chrissakes.
Also an african lion mount to a "new guy" just to see if he knows what he is doing??? How much does that hunt cost? Would that piss you off if you knew your animal was a test for a new guy?
He's arrogant as hell, he always has been, unless he wants your money. I wish Trudy was still there, she would have kicked him in the nuts over this whole thing.

BrettAKSCIJoel I think you have some good points, but you know Doug is compitent. I know Russ and Aaron are compitent. The "new cat guy"? I have no idea. The fact is I've seen their work and it's pretty good to good. The lion............not so much, but cats are a hard as it gets! Other animals they do just fine. The ibex that is ocassionally in the show is excellent. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of a friends Marco Polo they are doing. It will end up as an episode of the show. I can only say that Russ has been a gentleman to me and more than helpful. I've sat with he and his wife at SCI dinners and had pleasant conversations with him. He also took a lot of time out of his Sunday one day to receive my bear and show me some of the finer points of bear skinning and fleshing. I have NO complaints with the business or the man. I will agree that the profuse I's and lack of we's was unfortunate, but hopefully that will change in future shows.

Well, we've had Sarah Palin fishing too close to the bears and missing the world's smallest caribou 4 or 5 times. Then, the Haul Road truckers (version 2.0 of Ice Road truckers) with a pretty young gal trying to be one of the boys. Then, the Alaska State Troopers catching some poachers with a flea-bitten mounted moose. Then, a bunch of totally incompetent gold miners screwing everything up and spending $300,000 for $2000 worth of gold.
Now, we've got a lame show about taxidermy. All of them portray Alaska's people who live or go there as yokels and morons.
From now on, I'm watching nothing but "Real Housewives of Orange County" or "Jersey Shore."

L. David KeithAK shows are funny sometimes if nothing else, but you Alaskan's (men and women) are A-OK folks to me. I admire those who can live in our last frontier with minus 5 million below zero and come out like ass kicking Bears in the spring. My hats off to you all. I do enjoy the Crab boyz however, that is about as close to some real chit if I say so myself and it don't get better that a plate full of crab (all 3) Salmon (alaskan only please) and halibut.

kingsalmonakMark at the front desk is a good guy - watches out for your animals and will make things right. Aaron just did a mt. goat for me and did an excellent job (I am a picky bastard too). He had a stag at SCI that was very nice as well (I think it will be on the show). These two should start there own shop.
At any rate, I am 2 for 4 with Knights and most likely will not go back. Russ has fed me a line of BS on two separate occasions. It's just tough finding high-end taxidermy up here...

505 gibbsI watched this show a couple of nights ago, it was actually a couple of episodes, first was a Lord Derby Eland and a Tahr, the next was a Red Stag and a leopard. What a joke and complete misrepresentation of the work and effort that goes into the Art of taxidermy. I feel for taxidermist who have to deal with these misinformed jerk offs now. And the work was horrendous. The LDE and the stag were lower end production work, the tahr and the leopard were a travesty. I do not know who is more incompetent, the shitty taxidermists or the owner for allowing that crap to be paraded in front of the masses.

gunsrgoodto me, reality shows suck..with that said, trying to make a reality show out of a taxidermy operation is a bit of a stretch. They are trying to make something out of nothing..same thing they did with that other crab fishing show (dangerous catch..i think it was?) ...those guys began taking BIG risks for the camera they never took prior to having the cameras rolling. The things people do for money?
Brett- After reading the title to the thread, the obvious question is: "Who did the taxidermy?"
