Great sheep, awesome pictures as well. I take it your "partner" is your hunting partner not significant other?

No guide. Do it yourself. This was year 19 hunting sheep together. Had to laugh about the partner question. Just a "hunting" partner. No broke back mountain stuff going on!

Glad you and your "partner" had a great hunt.

Nice ram!

P.S. You gotta have someone to keep you warm during those cold, Alaskan winters! Big Grin

How many sheep have you each taken in 19 years?

What an old warrior ram!
If I could move to AK, I would do it in a second!
I can only imagine hunting sheep every year.

I love the pic of the ram from above.

I am guessing we've killed around 26 rams total. I am going to have to do a count of horns and talk with my buddy. We had one year we didn't go, then did a year in the Tonsina walk in that was a bust, then had a two years where I drew a tag that I passed on sheep. Then we had a few years where we killed one and were done. Most of the time when we didn't kill two sheep it was by choice. The older we are getting, the less important it is to actually pull the trigger. We've come to enjoy just being in the mountains much more than the actual kill, even though we will pretty much always kill one just because our families love the meat so much! Not sure our daughters will let us live it down if they didn't get to taste sheep meat for a year!

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Awesome job Mike.

What he doesn't say about himself is that he only has 3 or 4 days to hunt before he starts teaching school. Once you realize the logistics involved you start to realize that Mike is a freaking sheep hunting machine.

Sincerely,
Thomas

Norway,
I am so glad that you responded to the person that ask about how many sheep you have killed. I think that if more people would think that it is hunting and not killing. I
do under stand that you all are paying a large amount of money. But I do remember that when I hunted whitetail deer I did not shoot one every year. It is like fishing guys not catching; It is called fishing.......... This is called hunting not shooting if you want to shoot shoot targets......

Thanks Chuck. I'll try to get a picture of the final mount of that big ram. It turned out spectacular.
