I just had an experience with Barney's that I think is worth of passing on.

In Reno, I bought a bunch of gear from them. About $5,000 worth. They were very helpful in Reno.

This week a rather large box showed up with a bunch of things I ordered but not all of them . Some items are back ordered. One item did have a problem. There was only 1 glove.

I had my assistant call them about the glove. I also had her change the size of the boots I ordered by 1/2 size. The guy at Barney's laughed about the glove, apologized and is sending another. No problem. However, his reaction to the boot change is what really got me. He told my assistant that he would send BOTH sizes of boots. When I decided which one was best, I could ship the other pair back. I was floored.

Needless to say, they have a customer for life. I would most definitely recommend them both for their service and the quality of gear they sell. Well done Barney's Sports Chalet!

There's the reason a store of that size (small) is still in business.

That and the fact that the people that work there actually hunt and know the equipment.

+1

The guys know the gear and Bob is always keeping their inventory on the cutting edge.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Nice !!!....$5K worth of gear??? You must have bought packs and attire for everyone on your team... I second the quality of service and personality of their employees. The best "little shop" in town for sure.

Larry:
That store has been around since before the 1970's. I well remember it when I worked for BLM out of Anchortown. They were top o' the line then and still are.

I have been in their store in ANK a couple of times and found it to be a good place with friendly people.

I've been in that store as well. Bought my "plastics" there. It was stocked well with state of the art gear. Very impressive.
