ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - One person is stable after a bear attack in Eagle River Saturday, according to Timothy Garnett, a park ranger with the Chugach State Park.

He said the person was attacked by a brown bear that had cubs near Barbara Falls around 10 a.m.

The person, who is a local, called for help and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injures, Garnett said.

The Barbara Falls trail is open, but an area near the South Fork Confluence is closed.
