My wholesaler just posted new arrivals for the spring. Ruger Hawkeye stainless synthetic stocks, 20 inch barrels in .204, .223 and .243. I only see ones and twos coming in at this point. Get them now while you can!

Mea Culpa on this one folks. The distributor identified them as a LH guns, but I didn't want to order until I was sure it was a lefty, so I called Ruger. It's a right hand gun. The leftys in the short acton will be blued with walnut stocks. I'm sorry, I'm probably more disappointed than you are.

No problem, Vol717. Appreciate the attempt, at least.

Disappointing though. A LH SS Short action M77 would be great. Someday..............

I just bought a CZ in 204 this week(left handed). I was considering the Ruger, but I figured it would be a while before Ruger shipped any. My understanding is that it will be available in Walnut and laminated stock, with blued barrels. Tom.

I contacted Ruger to ask when the left hand Hawkeye's will begin shipping and was told they should be on their way to the distributors now. If anyone has a contact with a distributor, I'd like to know as I want a couple of these before someone changes their mind and cancels the project. Frowner

I have access to seven large distributors and no one has any LH short actions yet. They're on my wish list with the distributors, so I'll know as soon as they are in inventory. PM me with you needs.

Vol has the best insight on the news. He'll be along in a bit to tell us what the timeframe is. The last I heard it was late March/early April.

I haven't talked to the Rep in a while, but I think April is still a good bet. I've got them on my wish list several places.

Distributors all have the part #'s and are accepting orders from dealers, but no verified in stock dates yet.

All call to Ruger this week gained no information, but that is to be expected

Maybe some of you guys who are "in the know" with Rugers and there products could sweet talk them into a lefty .416 Ruger Alaskan.

For all we know, an unannounced run might just show up at some point. Ruger is very strange in that way.

There are some guns that came out of that plant over the years that most never heard of.

Limited runs and "distributor specials" are fine, but they need to market them better. At least they have started listing some of them on their website this year.

I've talked to enough people about a .416 lefty to know it ain't gonna happen. Buy a lefty .375 and rebarrel if you gotta have one.

I had a distributor talked into a run of 250 distributor exclusive LH Hawkeyes in .260 but Ruger wouldn't do it. They're very conservative in some ways. On the other hand, most of you know about the stainless .375 Leftys I've been selling. They did that one for only 100 or so units and didn't tell anyone about them.

Well, I'm always trying to get the most I can out of the $ I spend; however, the .416 is one I'd rip out the wallet for. The .260 I don't even think about and the .375 wasn't tempting enough to get me to chase them after the initial "great deals" turned into "damn, that's a lot of $" (in comparison).

I don't "gotta have one". I thought the statements revolve around what would I buy without much hesitation if Ruger made it. LH SS .416. And the closer to the $ the .375s sold for at first would mean less hesitation.

That's too bad. I would have certainly bought one in 260.

All bets for April release are off. Anyone have any release dates yet?

Another call to the company revealed nothing.. The office said they are unable to even reqest a production schedule from the plant.

I'd take a .223 or a .308. Or, if all you have is a .243 I'd take it I suppose!

I'll take a 7mm08, 243 or 308, preferred in that order. The perfect rifle would be a SA 257 Roberts if they would make them.

If you can PM me when available, that would be great.

Thanks,

JPK

Ken,
I own a Tikka T3 in .270 Winchester.

I've recently went through a selling spree getting rid of several of my rifles. This is one that I kept.

They're great rifles.

Well, Ruger is bringing out an AR15.....seeing how that market is going and guns are on a huge backorder.....I think us left handers are going to left in the dust for a while....

unless they make a left hand version of the AR to compete with Stag
