The stock is a laminate from Richards Microfit that I found in the closeout section of their website. I've had it for a while and decided it was time to do something with it. There was only a couple of hours work needed to get everything fitted, then I glass bedded it.

The finish is rudimentary at best: I knocked off the worst of the splinters and gave it a couple of coats of Carver Tripp poly from a 20+ year old can made back when they loaded wood finishes with plenty of VOC so they could soak in a bit. There are still brush marks and some small chatter marks in the finish that I don't bother cleaning up since this is a hunting rifle. LOP is quite a bit shorter than the factory walnut, and the laminate adds a bit of weight. I'm willing to trade the weight for the weather resistance and the vastly more comfortable fit compared to the factory wood. I may eventually shorten the factory stock, but given my preference for laminates or synthetic on hunting guns I sort of doubt it.

I may go over the finish this summer to smooth it out and build it up a bit.

I like the brown laminates much more than the black/grey laminates.

Nice job. What was that stock originally inlet for, a Model 98?

As it turns out, I posted about it when I bought it last fall:

It was listed as a left hand Interarms Mark X, which is what made me take the chance it might fit the commercial Zastava. I didn't know a LH version of the Interarms branded gun ever actually existed, at least in the US.

Looks nice. I've been tempted to pick up one of the LH Zastava's. Your stock looks light years ahead of their factory stocks.

I remember that stock. Good to see that you got it up and running.
