Due to some lucky circumstances, I were able to go on a hunt for the South Eastern Spanish Ibex here in January.

I hunted with Juan Iglesias for GadorCaza.
I hunted in the last few days of january.
We were based out of the town of Almeria, during the 3 days i hunted, we would leave our hotel early in the morning, after a light breakfast. We hunt through the day, so we had lunch with us. After dark, we would be back at the hotel. All in all a very pleasant form of hunting.

During the hunt, it was, sadly, the worst weather that they had had in that part of Spain during the last 45 years. So no need to say that the conditions weren't exactly the best. However we still managed to see lots of ibex, even though it was tough having to spot in between fog and cloud.
The first real chance i had i took. The 3rd day we finally caught a break in the weather, and after 30 min of sunshine, we saw my Ibex. After a nice stalk, and a wait, which seemed to be forever, I had a nice 230 yard shot. I missed. For the record, I put it down to Buck fever. The ibex started a slow trot, and i connected with my second shot. This time it went no further.

In between us and the Ibex how ever, was a rather exciting little creek crossing. It was very very steep. But we did manage to get all the way across. Got the pictures to prove it, And hopefully i will have a shoulder mounted Ibex turn up here in a couple of weeks time.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

Brieth,

What is that furry looking roden hanging below your Tahr and next to your SE Capra Hispanica?

Some kind of Giant Marsupial? Or just a really huge black squirrel?
