Do you have a cost quote on the flight from Anchorage to Petropavlovsk. I have searched and
found that it's not actually a scheduled flight yet.

I checked thru Kayak.com. I just went from ANC (Anchorage) to Petropavlovsk-Kamtchats.
$3680.
And that doesn't include the flight from where you are to Anchorage..

It's almost half of that if you fly to Washington, DC to Moscow to Petropavlovsk.

Thanks for the info! I just got off the phone with Expedia and they will have the info up sometime in June. I would love to do the Spring Bear on Kamchatka but would not go through Moscow unless I stayed a day or two and rested.
The last hunt I did in the Siberian plains went through moscow and I had a hard time getting over the jet lag.

this is a chareter flight and you can not find by expedia or other internet booking agency.

Yes ... all transfers in Kamchatka with heli included too

Add flight Anchorige-Petropavlovsk-Anchorige + 2500USD!!!
Total: 11000+5000= 16K snow sheep
or 11000+5000+5000= 21K snow sheep + brown bear.

The flight may be cheaper going through Moscow but that ain't the whole deal. I've done this hunt twice. Once through Moscow and once from Anchorage to Petro.

The Moscow route will add several days due to the Areophlot schedule. Just for reference, the flight from Moscow to Petro is 11 hours going and right at 12 hours coming home!

You'll also need a hotel in Moscow going over and coming back. Moscow is one of the world's most expensive cities now (at least it was in 07 the last time I went) so expect something around $400 per night in Moscow hotels!

For example, on my first trip in 05, I flew 7.5 hours from DFW to ANC, then caught the flight to Petro wich was 5.5 hours, then straight to the Helicopter pad, about an hour's drive, then the 1 hour to the camp. On the way back, Helo to Petro, stayed in a hotel at $100, then Petro to Anc, short layover then back to DFW the same day.

In 07, DFW to ORD, ORD to Munich, Munich to Moscow, 2.5 hour drive to the hotel, $400 at the Arbat Hotel for 1 night, 2.5 hour drive to the airport the following day, 2 hours to recheck the firearms, then 11 hours to Petro, then straight to the Helicopter pad, and the 1 hour to the camp. On the way back, Helo to Petro, stayed in a hotel at $100, then 12 hours to Moscow, 2.5 hour drive to the hotel, $400 at the Arbat Hotel for 1 night, 2.5 hour drive to the airport the following day, 2 hours to recheck the firearms, then back to Munich, Munich to ORD, arrived too late to catch the flight home after clearing customs, spent the night at the ORD airport hotel for about $175, then back to DFW the next morning.

So yes, you might save a little $ on the FLIGHT going the Moscow route, but there are other prices to be paid. I want to go back and do this hunt at least once more, but I'll only do so if going direct from Anchorage.

Just to put it in perspective, there are 14 time zones to cross going the Moscow route, from USA central time zone!
