I recall a pic of Wendell's deer (the 3x3) beside a 200+ NT mule deer. The 200 class deer looked like a runt. Will J. Parks, III

Ya, that's true! I think the other buck was in the 190's, but regardless - Wendell's buck made it look SMALL!!!

Look at how big the antlers are and the mount compared to the man holding them, he was an absolute beast of a deer. Must have weighed 350lbs. Jerry Huffaker State, National and World Champion Taxidermist

I think your estimate of 350 lbs might be low!

I'm pretty sure this buck fought Godzilla(and won) in Japan before moving to CO. He weighed well over 1000lbs and if you were to grind up his antlers it would cure cancer

He could look in the window of a second story building. If he bent over. He killed 14 people in Nebraska before fleeing to Colorado. It took 83 people 14 years to eat all the meat.

He actually jiggled like a bowl of jello when he ran, and that is no joke. David Morris and Davis Shashy were in camp filming for "Bucks of Tecomate". David's cameraman, Matt, filmed the hunt for David's TV show. Too bad they forgot to edit out the first running shot I missed. Hey, at least he got the second running shot on film. Those 80 yard running shots are a bitch! Way too close. I prefer to give them a good couple hundred yards before dumping them.

If I recall, you did that on a buffalo a few years ago. Missed close in then drilled him at 350 yards or so? I may be mistaken.

Gosh dogcat. Why you gotta drag out all my skeletons? No, that was a "first shot" at 355 yards. I followed that up with a beautiful performance of skill and marksmanship by shooting another Buff at 123 yards with my double. In the ear. Maybe that's where I was aiming. I'll never tell. 500 grains of .470 in a Buffalo's ear is quite deadly, by the way.

Wendell has NEVER hit anything on the first shot!

Actually, do you know how difficult it is to pull off that second shot as your guide is saying, "Oh my #%*!#% you missed!" That takes real skills! Concentration under pressure.

Maybe it is me as well but I seem to fubar the close up broadside shots. Add a little distance or a running target and its a different story. I think many of us overthink the dink shots. when they are moving and a bit farther out we tend to shoot more instinctively like shot gunning. At least that is my theory anyway. Happiness is a warm gun
