Hello AR Members-

Its been a long while since I have posted here. Must be a recovery from the Covid thing.

If you want to hunt elk this year, we have 3 archery Landowner Authorizations and 2 muzzle or rifle Landowner Authorizations. Hunters can choose their preference on dates allowed by the state per weapon type. The archery are either Sept 1-15 and Sept 16-24. The muzzle hunt is Oct 7. The rifle hunt is Oct 14.

The cost for the hunts are as follows:

Land owner tags alone: $5k for archery and $5.5k for muzzy/rifle + NMGRT. You will be responsible for your state license at $623ish for non residents.

***Should you want your hunts guided, we have several very reasonably priced options for you to consider***

Unit 2 has some nice bulls. I will be posting pics of bulls our guides have helped clients take following this notification. ALL ARE FROM GMU Unit 2 in NM.

Thank you,

Jim

All,
I have hunted with Jim many times over the years. He is a straight shooter, great guy and you can depend on him.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I forgot to mention these are Unit Wide Tags. This means you can hunt any public lands(USFS, BLM and State) within Game Management Unit 2 that has legal access and any private land ranch signed up Unit Wide. Its a big unit. There are quite a few properties signed up Unit Wide in GMU 2. The Game Department should have the Unit Wide ranch maps posted on their website. If its not there, it will be shortly.

Thanks,

Jim

NM elk hunting is great, but be aware that scopes are no longer legal during the ML season.

And as it should be as it is ml/primitive gun hopefully muzzleloader and not those in lines

Wish we could curb garage openers…compounds with all those gadgets and 90% let offs

Thanks for the posts guys. Yes, the return to using scopeless muzzle loaders will be interesting to watch these upcoming years. We really need hunters to hone their skills to assure they can make a ethical kill before shooting.

If I didn't already have a weeks vacation in October I'd be knocking your door down on one of those tags.
