First,welcome to AR.

This is a tough arena to offer this type of Lion hunt, but a few soft questions...
How large is the enclosure that will be hunted?
How long before the hunt will the lions be released into the enclosure?
Where in ZA will this hunt take place?
Thanks

Bob

Hi Bob

Thanks for the Welcome note

Yes you are right, any forum is a tough arena to offer a Lion hunt in South Africa.
Lion hunts in South Africa are under the spotlight, but if it is done according to the norms and standards required by each province I can’t see why it is wrong.

Regulation requires 1000ha (2470 acres)
The hunt is conducted on 2800ha (6918 acres) in the Kalahari (Mafikeng)
Track and Stalk method is the only way we hunt these Lions

Regulation requires 24 hours after it has been released to be hunted
The Lion is released 7 days prior to the client’s arrival

Please note that the norms and standards required do differ from province to province, these regulations are for the North West Province.

Kind regards Bossie Mostert

Would it make any difference if the Lion was released on 70 000 Ha high fenced property, just a soft question.

At least he's totally honest about the hunt/offer. I say good luck and hopefully you sell it quickly.

Morning Guys

Thanks Bob, please feel free to ask any questions, I will do my best to answer each one of them with honesty and respect to all.

Hi Geoff
The brake up of the hunt is as follow.

1 Day Pick $000.00
5 days accommodation $3000.00
Lion $15000.00
Lioness $4500.00
1 Day Drop off $000.00

The male sells for $15000.00 in a combo but if one would only want the male and not the female the trophy fee for the male will be $19000.00 as it is on my website.

Hi Larryshores
Thanks for the good question.
No I am not the gentlemen who breed the Lions (I wish I was) I make use of concessions and this is one of the areas I hunt. Mostly Lion and species not found in my area (Limpopo) such as Black Wildebeest, Springbuck, Red Hartebeest etc.

Hi Pennsyltucky

Mr. Mostert,
Thanks for clarification as the initial offer excluded trophy fees for animals taken or wounded. For those who wish to take a lion and lioness in such a manner, this is an exceptional deal.

I wouldn't want to kill a lion under the offered circumstances and I would wonder why anyone would.

That said, it is refreshing to have someone who is honest about their RSA offer and doesn't mind revealing the details, to include the premises (size) to be hunted, the applicable regulations and the origin of the lion.

In other words, I can find very real reasons to disagree with the offer, but I can't damn the guy who made it and somehow, I can live with that dichotomy.

IMHO, it is bad form to comment on someone's offer if you aren't interested -- unless it's a positive comment "but I'm broke, already booked, etc."

I poked fun at Aaron on thia public forum and probably should have done so on a PM, but the point is this offer has been honestly represented for what it is. It's legal, it's offered in an honorable fashion and someone might be interested. It's unfair to launch into a philosophical debate on this forum. There is a whole discrete topic for those of you who want to debate that issue. Knock yourselves out.

Hunter54
This sounds like a reasonable deal. Can hunters also shoot cubs? I have a buddy who always wanted a lion cub to accompany his female lion taxidermy mount.

What would be a reasonable price to shoot a cub and lioness combo in 7 days?

P.S. Feel free to release the lion cub just before I arrive so that it looks reasonably healthy when I make the kill-shot. Ideally, I'd want to shoot one that's no more than 35 pounds. Is it cheaper to pay for the trophy by the pound?

P.S.S. Feel free to let your rancher know that he would do the world more good if he actually supported and significantly contributed to conservation efforts in Africa! IMHO, you are a pimp hawking a prostitute's pussy- literally! So WTF!

You see Penny by what you write and say EVERYONE on the forum can see that you have no clue what you are talking about. I referred to THE REGULATION not the ANC. The government don’t set the standards by them self, we have the LION BREEDERS ASSOCIATIONS, PHASA AND OTHER BODIES who set the standards and present it to the MEC.

HAND ROSE? So clean Buffalo in SA is also something you will not hunt.

IT IS A PITY THAT YOU WILL NEVER HUNT A LION IN SOUTH AFRICA; I WOULD HAVE KEPT A CLEAN PAIR OF PANTS FOR YOU IN CAMP.

By hunting one HAND RAISED AND THEN RELEASED Lion you are sure to save the wild Lion of Africa.

You know nothing about hunting or the value of Conservation Penny. HUNTERS PAYS FOR CONSERVATION.

I am sure if you go to GOOGLE you will find a Preen Pease forum to post your crap.
I have been down this road before and have come across fools like you. If you want to discuss this type of hunting start your own post somewhere else.

Hunter54

No we do not shoot cubs but if your buddy wants one he can mail me with his detail, we do have some cubs that die of cat fewer, I will give it to him for free.

On the whole, I must say that the Captive lions are far more aggressive towards man than wild lions.
You should not take this lightly as your shooting skills will come into play in a big way.
They are hyper aggressive and a head on charge is not uncommon.

While it is tempting to match insults with a batch of your own, rather keep to the higher ground. You have been upfront about this hunt and it meets the strict regulations. It may not be everybody's (or my) cup of tea but the childish rants on this forum don't warrant response.
I hope you sell the hunt for the advertised price. In the long run there are not enough wild lions to go around and the price of them (4 or 5 times the price of your offer) will ensure that most hunters never get a chance to take one.

You've laid out the hunt conditions objectively, people can take it or leave it.
