Chaps,

Due to the great success of my previous AR group hunts I am offering this safari to the first four. Note previous attendees will have preference and if there is sufficient interest I could do two hunts.

Dates would be late now October

Hi Fairgame,
On the subject of the Bangweulu, I wasn't aware there where Buffalo there until I read one of your articles.
Not enough for sport hunting?

Adam,

ZAWA have just released the quotas and I will have to double check on this. There are Buffalo but they haunt the deep recesses of the swamp and there it can be very hard going. However the population is fairly thin. When I was hunting Sitatunga there some years back you would often see them from the machan. Saw a croc there once which was about twice the size of my cruiser and maybe a foot or so wider. But they are not on license.

Remember most that hunt Bangweulu fly in on a day trip for B.lechwe and the odd Tsessebe.

Guys, if you have not been to the Bangweulu - you must go and experience it! The largest inland swamp in the world, thousands of Black Lechwe, and another chance to experience a very unique piece of Africa.

Good Luck - Andrew!

I've personally hunted the Bangweulu twice. I consider it a unique hunt and one not to be missed if at all possible. You will find the black lechwe nowhere else and if you can find that combination of a dark tuxedo cape and long horns plus get him isolated from the huge herds you'll have a strikingly beautiful trophy. The tseesbe are there in huge numbers and all the really big ones in the book come from the Bangweulu. You'll also shoot a very good oribi there if you can be patient.

Of course the Zambezi sitatunga is the prime trophy of the Bangweulu and Zambia is the only country the Zambezi variety can be taken. With a little luck you'll shoot one of the really special trophies found on the continent.

Either this AR hunt or the 8 day 1x1 safari Andrew is offering would be an incredible experience for anybody lookng for something really special.

Yeah! There are buffalo there. We ran into a group of five bulls laying under some palms out on the flood plain and one was a real beaut.

Andrew,

A great pic but it really doesn not do justice to the immense size of some of those herds.

Any chance to pick up Puku in the area or going in coming out? This would finish out my SCI 29. I would also like to take a Roan while I am there....this would be a great opportunity!

Guys, I did the inaugural AR Kafue Flats hunt last year and I will tell you it was the time of my life. We all pitched in around camp and we all shared in each other's hunts. We weren't exactly roughing as we set up a comfortable camp that was well outfitted by Andrew including a few staff. To say food, drink and laughs were plentiful is an understatement.

Unfortunately I can't make this hunt and I’m going to regret it. If you want to see some real Africa and experience some more hands on hunting, find a way to do this hunt. You won't be disappointed.

Hello Andrew; With the Puku as well, you have my attention! Pencil me in and keep me advised of dates, deposits, etc. This will give me a focus for PT on this darn leg recovery.
How difficult is this hunt?
You have my direct e-mail- or PM me if you lost it in the computer crach...

I would certainly be all over this if I wasn't going to Malapati in March and Omay in August.

Damn the luck. I can vouch for Andrew and Faisal, both excellent chaps to hang out with.

Somebody is going to have some fun and a great hunt.

Looks like a superb adventure and a species I would like to hunt sooner rather than later but unfortunately, or fortunately, I am booked this year. Good luck to those that are able to make the hunt!

For Sitatunga I prefer Lumbatwa which is again north east of Chikuni and not really hunted much as it is remoter. Fico Vidale's last hunt of 2012 at Lumbata produced three Sitatunga and this is the best of the bunch.

Tsessebe are better concentrated at Chikuni.
