I'm about to leave on another Idaho Bear hunt. Temps are in the 50s during the day and low's in the 20s at night. Some snow is still falling but bears are active and moving. Should hit it just right. Hoping for another color Bear. Our hunt is 8 days with 6 hunting in the Salmon-Challis Nat'l forest. Tented camps include food, guide(s), Horses where needed, spot and stalk hunting or bait stands. Lots of color phase black bears. Tags are $186 and non res license $154.75. Children aged 12+ can hunt for much less: Idaho youth hunting license...$31.75 Bear tag....$23.75. Cost of hunt is $1,600. We will see you when you come out. Chantry shot her rifle tonight..1-1/2" low at 100 yds. we will work on it this weekend. Good luck and save us a good one or two. Thanks for putting this together for us. A young person only gets one first big hunt, and this one is shaping up to be one for the books. One of our fellow AR members took his 13 year old daughter and 10 year old nephew on our bear hunt. Got word this morning his girl shot a monster red/cinnamon bear in the 7' range. Dad shot a black bear to boot but I'll leave the details to his report should he decide to post it. LDK, what's the success rate for strictly spot & stalk? I'm not much interested in hunting bear over bait. Also, the wife wants to take a bear this way as well. Thanks | |||

Mike, sorry for the slow reply, I've been very busy lately and haven't been able to check back often. Best way to get me fast is via direct email. However, 100% of my clients have taken Bears over bait this season. We did find 4 Bears out on green up back on June 7th, but I left that night before getting a chance at them. Another hunter was stalking at the time of my last call before boarding the plane but I do not know how he faired as he wasn't a client of mine and the Outfitter is still up at camp. Timing is critical for spot and stalk. Season ends the end of this month but next year will end June 15th. I'm already booking for next year. Snow was still falling off and on last week, but as it gets warm to hot some days, they will be rubbing off soon. If you need more info give me a call or email.
