The boat just got back from a 3 day trip, raised 63 blue marlin, 40 some bites and caught 23….customers were hooking their own, also a couple of stripeys and a sail. This location could be the current top world blue marlin bite. I am not sure what is happening in other parts of the Pacific but I doubt it is this good.

I've done the Los Suenos fishing trip thing 3 times, and it is a world class place. The fishing isn't bad either. The numbers of bill fish Capt Purvis speaks of is in the ballpark of the same numbers we experienced. Can't say enough good things about this place, and somebody is going to have lots of fun.

This is an image of a FAD or Fish Attracting Device. They are located in somewhat secret locations about 130 miles offshore of Los Suenos and out of range of the near shore fleet. This is why this is an overnight trip. I think that the epic marlin bites that occurred in places like Madeira and Venezuela only last for a certain period of time was because they were overfished. Even if you practice catch and release, billfish do not respond well to long periods of pressure. Less pressure means more fish and places like Costa Rica can handle the FADs because they do not have a commercial fishing fleet that can travel this distance.

I would imagine there's also a Tuna and Wahoo bite there too (and Mahi) if one tried.

For those of you who are 'friends' with Jack Brittingham, this is the trip he was raving about a couple weeks ago where they caught dozens of Blue Marlin. When people asked where he was fishing, all he said was 'way offshore in Costa Rica'.

They went out and put out a new FAD this week and did work on several others. They did some fishing while they were out and caught twenty Pacific Sails and five Blue Marlins. Peak of the fishing begins in May. Common to catch as many as twenty Blue Marlin per trip. Open dates for boat are May 28-June 11, June 15-24*. I have a group going the third week of May. Trying to put together a make a charter for last week of May. I have to get back for the Big Rock Marlin Tournament but boat is available that week.

How big is the boat and how would it compare to Mike's 58 footer we used in Isla? Fifty five Buddy Davis which is a NC built boat like Mikes. Not as fast but nice to fish on. North Carolina custom boats are known for their Carolina Flare and ability to travel fast in rough seas. Ocean conditions at this location are much different than Isla. Trade wind comes from the leeward on that part of the Pacific so it is not as rough as the Northern Caribbean.

Boat just got back from a four day trip fishing the FAD's on the sea mounts and caught 60 Blue Marlins. . They also caught tons of other fish. We are not sure how long this cycle will last but this package is still available. Like most fisheries throughout the world you need to get on it while the action last. The fishing is good here because there is no pressure. Sixty Blue Marlin in four days!

You mention 3 fishermen, but would it be possible for 3 non fishing spouses to accompany? Thanks "Once you've wrestled, everything else in life is easy." Dan Gable

If you are going to share a double and queen berth (beds) I could probably handle a few more. If interested I can put together some numbers. Have a group going out next week and will provide a report.
