Leopard hunt 2011 Infinito Safaris applied for and got a Leopard tag for 2011. Please take a couple of minutes if you are interested in a Leopard hunt. I would very much like to sell this hunt BEFORE I go to America and Europe to market. Area: The hunt will be conducted on our huge concession in the Lydenburg mountains between Lydenburg and Burgersfort. The area is very mountainous, and have a huge and healthy population of Leopard. My challenge this year is to shoot this cat in daylight, proofing all the critics that says it cannot be done is SA, wrong. I have enough day time trail camera pictures to proof that it will be done. All our PG clients that hunted here will testify to the huge number of leopard sign we pointed out to them. There has been NO Leopard hunted here the last 8 years! Due to popular demand by way of PM's and a lot of typing I decided to change the offer and break it down the WAY I advertised a Leopard hunt earlier this year. Our offer: $18,500.00 includes EVERYTHING for your Leopard hunt, bait, licenses, etc. No hidden cost no where. Break down: Day rates of 14 days, 1 arrival and 1 departure day @ $450.00 per day = $6,600.00 Airport Transfers = $ 500.00 Leopard License - $1,000.00 Pre-baiting - $2,000.00 Trophy fee for Leopard if killed OR wounded and lost - $8,400.00 This will also be the amount the client does not pay if he does not shoot the Leopard. Extra bait: Impala - $120.00 Kudu - $350.00 PG as per our web-site prices. You fly into Johannesburg and we clear your weapons. Drive to Mugaba is 3 hours. Your hunt includes an arrival and departure day as well as 14 days hunting. This offer will only be valid until 13 January when I leave for America and Europe. Thanks! As far as hunting Leopard goes, I know for a fact that hunting them in S.A. is as sporting and challenging as anywhere else in Africa. Congratulations on the leopard tag ! On my very first safari wayyyyyyyyyy back in 1977 we located a giraffe that had been killed by a pride of lions (its leg above the hoof was almost severed from a damn snare that he had broken lose .. He had gotten up against a cutbank to fight off the lions but it hadn't worked obviously). The tracker inspected all of the tracks in the sand and noted that amongst all of the lion tracks was the spoor of a pair of leopard. John Coleman (PH) told me that although the giraffe had been dead for several days and that the lions had moved on .. if they were in the area they might come back to look ... and there was the leopard spoor .... On that long ago hunt the trophy fee for a lion was $1,500 or $2,000 and the leopard was $600 U.S. I would have been totally thrilled with either !!! We quickly built a blind about 30 yards at most from the giraffe and settled in to wait .. John promptly went to sleep and Joual just sat there fingering his skinning knife... Maybe 30 minutes later I heard a sound .. I suspect my eyes must have widened thinking of a dozen lions at 30 yards .. with most of them hungering for the young Canuck !!! It was a pair of leopards coming down the river bed telling each other off as they came ... or maybe it was sweet whisperings of love ??? I dunno ...  When the big male paused in front of me I shot him through or perhaps just near the shoulders ... he was over the bank away from us in about two jumps !!! Never did see where the female went nor did I care .. I promptly jammed the gun and that took a few seconds to fix... John had a BRNO SxS. Earlier I had asked him if he was going to put a sweater around his neck if we had to go after a wounded leopard !! He looked at me like I was nuts !!! I defended my suggestion by saying that the legendary white hunter from Rhodesia (PHC) did that very thing ... John was from Rhodesia .. had never heard of that chap at that time and assured me that he knew all the Hunters from there ... and went on to assure me that he .. 'didn't intend for the leopard to get me !' .. Made sense. We scrambled over the bank and the wonderful leopard was sprawled dead only a few yards away !! Not too concerned about scaring off lions .. I shouted like a 27 year old Canadian kid just might in such an occasion .. It was still an hour from dark ... no game fences yet ... in the old Transvaal ... It was the best of times for sure ...
