Long story but had to cancel another trip - have approx 7/26-8/11 open.

Would be bringing my adult kids - 18 & 21 - son has done many trips, daughter first trip. She is not fired up about hunting, other trip was a mix of some hunting a lot of parks and exploring.

Curious if anyone has any last minute ideas?

Thanks

Depends on where you are going.

Find what available and see if it fits with your family.

I'd check Tholo Safaris in Botswana.

They have a great area for plainsgame. It is big,...I think 300,000 acres.

At this point, I mainly like to hunt elephant and buffalo. So, I don't really get that excited about plains game hunts, but I would hunt Tholo again. They track eland with bushmen. It was a lot of fun. I also shot my biggest Kudu (by far) at Tholo, 58 inches.

Quite a few people here on AR have hunted with Tholo. It is a low pressure hunt with lots of opportunities at game.

Good Luck finding a safari.

Go Duke!!

I would call Mark Young and see if Mokore could take you in the Save if you want to do a Buff hunt, or you could go to Moz, both have amazing amounts of plains game but grass could be a bit thick in Moz

I just returned from South Africa, hunting with the same company for the last 4 years. This time I took my wife who had never hunted and only fired my 2 rifles once each; hitting the bulls eye at 100 yards. (Thornell witnessed this and he is hunting there currently). With multiple ranches to choose from, I chose one that has 30,000 acres with open plains, hills and mountains to hunt within. There are private chalets although we stayed in the Honeymoon suite. The main lodge is nice and food was excellent. Only a small amount of hunters (if any) were there. No crowds. You will have to hunt. These animals are wild and know what hunters are about. We did visit another larger ranch and my wife took a total of 10 plains game animals and made some stunning shots for a first time hunter, taking a few that would rank gold, one within the top ten (we don't enter animals for score but I do score for several record books, so I'm familiar with game measurements). We had an outstanding time and took hundreds of photo's. I've seen entire family's enjoy these same ranches including taking side trips to parks, sites and shopping. Some of the ranches I visit are very private and only word of mouth advertising. I'd be glad to share our experiences and advice should you wish to discuss, just give me a call anytime. Cheers, LDK

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
