Folks,

Mangwe Camp

So far this year Lin has gone 3 for 3 on ele bulls in Mangwe. Weighs were 35, 38 and 42. Larger are there. Leopard have been 2 for 3 with the unsuccessful hunt being with dogs.

THERE IS ONE ELE BULL and ONE LEOPARD STILL AVAILABLE THIS YEAR

I've seen on AR that some think the safari outfitter does not have enough skin in the game. They would like to see a lesser daily rate and larger trophy so if there is no success the hunter's financial obligation is less. Well! Here it is and for this year.

Lin Stanton/Mbalabala Safaris has just taken on the huge Mangwe concession in the Marula District of Zimbabwe that is only an hour's drive from Bulawayo.

Mangwe is about a million acres with very good elephant and huge leopard. Plains game is there but not abundant as it is a communal area.

Expectation on ivory weight 35# plus. Last season two were taken over 60#, 2 more 40#-50# and there are plenty cats and big ones.

Lin told me he was on Mangwe a couple of days ago and there was a great deal of bull ele movement and cat sign everywhere.

PRICING:

Elephant bull

1x1 10 day $500 per day
Ranger $50 per day
All taxes and government fees included
Elephant trophy fee $20,000
Road transfer $200 each way

Leopard

1x1 12 days $700 per day
Ranger $50 per day
All taxes and government fees included
Leopard trophy fee $16,000
Pre bait $2,000
Hounds-man $6,000 optional
Road transfer $200 each way

IF YOU BOOK THE LEOPARD HUNT THE ELE CAN BE ADDED FOR A $15,000 TF

Various dates throughout the 2023 season are open.

Folks this is just what has been asked for and even if successful which is likely the price is still more than reasonable in today's Africa.

Call me on this deal.

Mark

Just curious, road transfer for an hour each way. At 250.00 bucks. Vehicle use at 50 bucks a day. What other kind of fees are there?

Mark, you know I'm to old to do this, great deal though especially with the Gov. fees included.

69deer,

There are no other fees associated with the hunt. I don't write incomplete ads. If I didn't put everything up front I would feel like I was being deceptive.

I'm afraid I'm not following you on "vehicle use $50 per day".

Cheers,

Mark

I do not see " the deal " It is just another way of " calculating " I am pretty sure that the PH is confident that the different animals will be in the salt and thus you have the same price as before.

I my opinion just a marketing thing...

The confusion on the part of 69deer regarding the fee for a "ranger" is easy to resolve -- it is not for use of a "Ranger" vehicle, but is the fee associated with having a government-required ranger accompany the hunting party while in the field.

Yes! The "Ranger" fee is for the Parks Scout and is only for the days it takes to kill your ele or leopard.

Morten,

I might suggest you have not done the math. The bull elephant is a total of $25,900 airport to airport. I have sold recently a very similiar hunt for $42,000. I think you would struggle to find a com-probable hunt for the price of this Mangwe hunt.

The leopard to include pre baiting but not dogs as that is only an option comes in at $27,150 also airport to airport. Lin thinks you'll have a 90% chance of success. I don't know anywhere that you'll find that kind of success rate for that price.

$42,150 for Leopard and Ele is a screaming deal.

Jim,

You are correct. If I was to do the combo I'd book some extra days but at $700 that does not increase the hunt substantially.

Thank you Sir. Joyce has us doing things like leaving Alaska in the winter to go to Antarctica recently. No Penguins on quota though.

I have hunted with Lin 2xs. If I had the $$ I would take this leopard hunt in a minute. My last hunt I took bushbuck, 2 impala, tuskless cow and a 41" buffalo. Although a different camp, I have no reservations about recommending Mbalambala and Lin.

After two unsuccessful leopard hunts I really like seeing this kind of pricing. It would put more skin in the game for the outfitter to get the desired trophies.
Good deal Mark tu2

Gunslinger,

Dates are pretty open. August thru Oct is best for elephant and June-Aug are best for leopard. I'd think the later the better for ele and on the dark moon for leopard. Let's talk about what works for you and then we can see if we can work it into the schedule.
