I'm now taking deposits for 2012 for Greenland Musk Ox, Reindeer or a combination hunt for both. We are sold out for this season, but can accommodate hunters for next season. Greenland is 2.2 million sq km (880.000 sq mi) and has 55,000 inhabitants. 85% of the country is covered by the inland glacier. There are no roads in Greenland. In summer, the only transport is by boats, helicopters and airplanes. Greenland is probably the second wildest area in the world and untouched by people, after the South Pole. Greenland is very rich of wildlife. There are several whale and seal species all around the coast. Mammal species include Polar bear, Arctic fox, Snow hare, Musk ox and Reindeer. There are also many seabirds species around the coast, including King Eider. We offer summer hunting only in south Greenland. All travel goes via Iceland and staying overnight in Iceland is often necessary. Trips include 2 - 4 full days of hunting, depending on the number of hunters. Our area is the only one in Greenland, producing SCI gold medal trophies, both for Musk ox and Reindeer.

The Hunt
We offer 6-8 day trips with 2-4 hunting days, depending on the number of hunters. We sail along the coast in a 30-40 foot boat with a warm and comfortable cabin. When a trophy is spotted, we go to shore in a smaller open boat, to stalk and further evaluate the trophy. This is repeated until we have found a good old trophy bull that the client is happy with.

There are both steep and flat coastal areas. Hunters can most often choose how hard terrain they want to deal with. We are the only outfitter in Greenland, working in an area, where you do not nesseccarily have to be very fit and walk your ass off.

Season
Reindeer + Musk ox combination August 1st – 20th.

Food & Accommodation:
We operate mostly from our lodge in Ivituut, when doing combination hunts. We may possibly stay 1-2 nights at Hotel Narsaq. Our lodge offers all comforts you can think of, as in your own home. Hotel Narsaq is the best hotel in the town of Narsaq. No tent camps, no outdoor toilets. We offer 3 meals per day, snacks, soft drinks. Musk ox and Reindeer are on the menu, if the clients wish to taste the game.

Other activities
Free time after trophies have been harvested can be spent sightseeing, hunting seals, sea angling or fishing for Arctic char. We will provide a .22 LR rifle and fishing tackle at no extra cost. An extra Musk Ox or Reindeer trophy can also be considered, if available. Hunt cost is based on the Euro and is currently converting to $12,789.00 for the Musk Ox hunt and $14,553.00 for the Musk Ox/Reindeer combo hunt. We calculate the rate Euro/USD at the date of each payment. To reserve dates we would need 25% now, 25% in Oct and final payment 90 days before the hunt. My price includes Reykjavik hotel before/after Greenland hunt, and flights from Iceland to Greenland, round trip. From the US, you fly to Reykjavik, Iceland then onto Greenland. Season runs from August 1st - 20th. Bjorn Birgisson is the outfitter and is one of the best. For those wishing to hunt sea ducks and birds, contact me for details.

Yes Ann, Seal may be hunted but not imported into the US, just like the sea birds; hunt but no export. Only the Musk Ox, Reindeer and waterfowl. Fishing too but replica mounts would be the way to go on what they have in Greenland.

Normally, we offer rifle hunting due to the vast open terrain, but archery is possible. Let me see if I can get you some success rates. I'll be out of touch until next week but will advise you asap.

When is the recommended time if you want the musk-ox combo deal and then want to hunt King Eider's as well? What is your success rate on the Eider's when hunted?

We can normally get within 10-20 yards of a musk ox over on the west coast, around Kangerlussuaq. I've encountered them, and caribou at distances under 50 yards, while Char fishing. I've snuck closer with the camera. There are many I could have killed with a bow. Ofcourse the central west coast isn't what it used to be. There's been some hunting pressure over the last 10 years that have pretty much driven the game miles from town. I spent 17 days in Kanger this past August, and is the 1st time in 15 years of going there, that I have not seen Caribou.

No, I don't speak for any outfitters, although I know 2 on the west coast.
I'm just a guy who's been traveling there for years, and have experienced just about all Greenland has to offer.
It's truly gods country, and anyone who has the opportunity, and desire to go, won't regret it, if for nothing else, the feeling of absolute wilderness.
I'll be back up there next July. Wouldn't miss it for the world.

Very expensive!!
$14'553 are about 11'640 Euro. My friends in Greenland offer the same combination hunt incl. the international flight Copenhagen - Greenland, the hunt incl. license and trophy fee for 1 muskox and 1 caribou and (most important) a helicopter transfer to a remote area with almost no other hunters for about 6100 Euro.
Mathias Ingemann was 1996 the first Greenlandic who got an outfitters license.
Interessted hunters can contact me for more informations.
Cheers Roger

My dog is not in this race but we have been checking out Greenland for a couple years. Is the higher price because the hunters are based on a boat with all the luxuries of a 5 star hotel?

Hawkeye, Musk Ox, Reindeer and combo hunts for 2012 prices are based on the Euro, and that's what it coverted to at the time I posted this hunt. If you look at what is included (hotel going in/coming out, round trip flights from Iceland to Greenland, and hunting in comfort) you can see it's not a bare knuckles hunt. This area also produces some of the top record book trophy's each year.

Roger (rj61) if you want to be an Internet Troll, do it on someone elses hunt. That is low class, especially for an AR member. If you can't type your own hunt offers, I'm sure some of your Troll friends can manage it for you. Don't do this again.
