Cape Buffalo Special: Tanzania
For those of you who have dreamed of hunting the Cape Buffalo in Tanzania's Selous Game Reserve, you probably know it's very expensive, as in $20,000+ dollars for 1x1 as an average cost. Well, I have a great 2 Buffalo EACH special for two hunters: 7 days in the Selous, hunting with PVT Safaris. Included are: Meet and greet service upon arriving in Dar Es Salom, Tanzania; rifle assistance upon arrival; pick up and transport to the airstrip; round trip air charter to and from our camp; hunting licenses; Gov't concession fees; license for two Cape Buffalo each; license for 6 plains game animals each, plus dip and pack fees with delivery to shipping agent. All for $12,990.00 each! Hunt can be extended to 10 days for $15,990.00. Price good for the 2010 season only. Not included: $200 Gov't fee for each rifle; $50 Gov't ammo tax for each rifle; hotel costs before/after hunt; trophy fees (Buffalo $2500, Zebra $1380, N Wildebeest $750, L Hartebeest $750, Warthog $520, EA Impala $450 & Baboon $130); items of a personal nature; shipping to final destination/taxidermy; Observer daily rate ($350 per day); optional gratuities you may wish to leave for your PH and staff. For details contact me via PM, email or phone. Lots of references and photo's on request. A number of AR members have hunted with PVT Safaris for plains game and the Dangerous 7 (we have RSA concessions for Rhino).
Good hunting,
David

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Biebs and a couple of our friends and I did this hunt July 2008. Great time we shot 4 buffalo a few hartebeests some Baboons.
Pierre is a great guy to hunt with. The best time for this hunt is Late August. [IMG:left] [/IMG]

The dates on the camera are not right we did this hunt July of 2008. Real high grass. Lots of Buffalo and other animals.

If you haven't done it, you need to go. I've been with Pierr'e four times and have booked another for my daughter's college graduation present.

It is a real East African experience and you will get no surprises, just a great hunt in a pretty darn posh camp. Food is infinitely good, lots of buff, a dedicated PH who only wants to make you satisfied, the prettiest views from camp with hippos fighting, leopards coughing, lions roaring, bush bucks barking, bush babies crying....

Go, damnit... just go!

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

I have also done this hunt. Mine was in 06, in MK1 with Clinton Van Tonder and Wickes Groenwald.

We went in Oct. and I fully recommend this time of year if there is some kind of african snake or exotic worm, bug, or amphibian you might have missed on your other safaris. The heat,(I'm from middle Ga.) was also of interest, as was the humidity. Those who say humidity can't exceed 100% have not experienced the Selous in summer.

We had a wonderful safari and if Oct. or Nov. are your only options go anyway. Great food, camps, and PHs. We will go again. We booked with Jeff Martinell of Luxuryhunts.com, Jeff was top drawer as well.

Wickes was my PH, and about as good as they get.

JudgeG,

Unless you go bankrupt. Then the hunter looses all deposits. It happened to the poor souls who booked with those slimeballs Cy Angeloz and Russsell Seele.

Soltuion: buy trip insurance that covers financial default of the booking agent and operator.

I can't disagree with AZ's belt and suspenders approach! Money in the U.S. and insurance, too.

And, yeah. Dad will get to enjoy the present to his baby girl.. but she asked for it as she did for her high school graduation safari a couple of years ago. Since she's paying her way to college with scholarships she's earned (as is her sister, btw), I dang well need to make it happen for her (and me, I'll admit).
