Hi all,

As per the wingshooting week that we have offered HERE We also have the opportunity to offer one possibly two Trophy red hill stags for this season.

For those of you that know of Hill stalking for reds this is a VERY rare hunt as estates do not usually give the opportunity to take a trophy animal on the hill. The cull is generally directed at management animals.

This will be a fully traditional hunt in Royal Deeside, adjacent to the Queens Balmoral Estate. You will have 6 hunting days as you may not hunt in Scotland on a Sunday.

Trophy Fees for a Trophy Stag are £2500, and £450 for a management stag. Quota must be reserved at the time of booking to comply with the years cull plan.

The hunt will include full hospitality for the week in the castle where you will joint the wing shooters. Accomodation is Full board and includes all transfers to and from the airport.

Photo's of the castle are on the thread linked above.

Let me know if you have any questions

Rgds,
Kiri

Grateful to know whether you help with a Temporary Firearms License and what calibers are acceptable for red stag.

Regards, Tim

Hi Tim,

Yes I will arrange the import permits for your rifles and this is also included in your day rates.

I think anything from the 7mm to .30 does the job well. I would say the 30-06 or 300WM would be hard to beat, but at the same time the 270 kills a lot of stags each year.

Hi All

as per a couple of emails I would just add that this hunt can be combined with the wing shooting week to give you two days traditional driven wingshooting for Partridges and wild Red Grouse on the hill followed by 4 days of red stag stalking.

K

Any thoughts on this guys?

On of the beats look sold subject to deposit but not for the trophy stag. This will leave the possibility of a 2 on 1 rate for two hunters together to take a trophy stag each.

I should stress that this is not going to be like any other hill stag hunt as mostly all Scottish stags are management stags. This will be a hunt for a true free ranging wild stag on the Scottish hill. Trophy spectating should be between 12-16 points depending what we can fin that is an appropriate animal, but you will not shoot less than a true royal with a good chance at an imperial stag.

If anyone would like to take management stags and roe combo this is also possible with the stags coming in at £450 and roe at £250-£500 depending on trophy quality.

Guys, this hunt is a fantastic experience. While I have not gone on this specific hunt, I have hunted highlands stags on a neighboring estate, Airlie, and it was an incredible time. We hunted management stags, and even that was fun. Being able to take a trophy stag would be really nice and I highly recommend this hunt. It is a great place to take the wife, who can do separate tours during the day while you are deer stalking.

I still remember when I went back in 1985. The gamekeeper and I were eating a bit of lunch up on the mountain, and he was looking across at the neighboring estate with his telescope, a wonderful old brass extending scope. After a minute or so he passed the glass to me and asked "Care to see the Queen?" I replied with something highly intelligent like "HUH"? Then he told me the hunters we could see over on the next mountain were Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles. He said "That's Balmoral, man, the Queen's estate"!

One of the most prized trophies I have in my trophy room is a 12 point stag that I shot on Pitmain Estate, up farther north near Inverness. He wasn't nearly as big as the stags whoever purchases this hunt will have a chance at, but the experience made his size not that important.

Somebody needs to buy this hunt.

DLS,

Thanks for the input. It is indeed a great place to hunt and a very rare opportunity to take a hill stag of this quality not o mention the accommodation.

A couple of possible variations on this as it is an opportunity not to be missed.

I can d a 2-1 rate of £2,200 each in shared accomodation. If I have a spare room the hunters can have their own bedroom at no additional cost.

Alternatively. A hunter and his wife can join for £3500 for the week or £3000 per couple if two hunters bring their wives and hunt two on one.

Prices include full hospitality and transportation for hunters and the non hunters. If you get your stag early you can hunt roe or management stags.

Rgds,
Kiri.
