Won't be long and the annual conservation season on light geese will begin (first week of February) in Arkansas. If any of you want to join me, contact me so I can sort out dates for you. We hunt around Reydel, AR., which isn't far out of Stuttgart. Always worth a trip to Mack's to get any last minute items or just take a look at the ulitimate waterfowl hunting store. Mack's usually has the best prices on shotshells and they carry them all. You only need a free AR Conservation number (call the AR G&F) and no other license required. Cost is $200 per day and that includes lodging at our camp off the AR river and meals. Space is limited so contact me soon if you want to join us. There is no limit on Snow/Blue or Ross geese. Wendell & Larry, yes, pretty much all inclusive; lodging, meals, local transportation, decoys, guide, electronic & mouth calling etc. We set decoys each morning as a rule, leaving them only if the geese don't move. Most fields are very close to the camp (have shot some off the porch). You supply your own gun/shells, waders/boots personal items. Hot showers and good food. We clean the geese at camp but there are locals that can offer full processing. If your looking for trophy birds, this is a mecca for that. Mature Snows, Blues (Eagle heads)and Ross geese are the norm. Scott, we usually hunt Snow's each year. It's going on currently but under the regular season limits/regs on ducks and geese (dark geese too). She would be welcome to participate. That will be fine. I use 3" #1s and BBs and do fine over the decoys but there are times where a 10 ga will do the job. My fellow waterfowlers; the February dates are filling fast, so if your thinking about coming, get in touch ASAP. I will be at the Atlanta show Saturday but you can reach the owner; Tim Reaves at: 870-308-0496 after 6PM CST. If you get his voice mail, leave your name and number and he'll try and call you back. Cell reception can be finicky from camp so you may need to try again if you don't receive a return call. We like to keep groups down to 4-6. He has waived the deposit as it is too close to season, so you can pay upon arrival. We have freezers in house for your trophy birds and meat. Be sure to tag all birds for transport (Federal law). Don't let anyone fool you: Snow/Blue/Ross geese that have been feeding on rice and beans are excellent table fare. If you do not want to keep any to take home, that is fine, you may donate them.
