I'm looking now for my 2014 hunt and have many feelers out (2015 is about done). These prices are the highest I've seen. Am I missing something or is this average now?

I just looked on the 'net. This is a SA outfitter who must have conniptions in Zim or is the flight to Bulawayo and drive to SA? No prices are given on the website for SA hunting.

To compare, on my trip to Zim in June, hippo fee was 3250, buff was 3500, buff cow was 1250.

I don't like to comment too much on outfitter prices, but those are rather steamy. Quite a bit higher than any of the others I have been looking at. My wife just about spit her teeth out when she saw the observer rates.

Cal,
Just for the record, I got the prices and trophy fees for the BVC for the next two years and they are same if not higher. It seems with only a handfull of decent places to hunt in Zim, they have raised the prices to match.
I had a group of 14 going in 2015 and all have cancelled. We were lucky we went when we did as it is now out of bounds for the working class.
Hijack over, best of luck selling your hunts as I feel for you guys struggling to make ends meet in your (once) beautiful country.

I think the former property mentioned is a forestry area which is not one of the stellar areas in the country . Other booking agents/operators operate there as well.

It would be really interesting to check out just who some of these other operators are. That will probably tell you all you need to know.

Agreeing pretty much with Larry, I've been to Sijarira four times. If the price were right (big "if") I wouldn't hesitate to hunt hippos, tuskless or small bull elephant (35#) there in the late season before the rains. I wouldn't book without the option of cruising the shore by boat... and would only plan to take plains game and buff if lucky. Tiger fishing can be great while cruising the shore.
That said, not all P.H.'s are fishing pros, so checking on that aspect is important. Also you need to know the charges for the boat and "captain".

I've had three great safaris to Chete, also. What the situation is now, I don't know.

This appears to be another SA outfitter offering hunting in Zimbabwe, but no mention is made of the Zimbabwe PH who will run the hunt!
Isn't that required.
Or is this J.Brits a Zim DG PH?

Tsessebe and wildebeest are non existent in Chete and I don't believe there has ever been a quota for cheetah.

I had a fantastic safari at Chete in 2001, shooting lion, buffalo and leopard in 14 days, but I understand the place has changed considerably since then.

I think we all knew it was coming with Botswana and Zambia closing and Mozambique a bit funky and nonexportable ele, hippo etc.
Plus all the mess with takeovers in Zim.
It is such an unfortunate thing for lots of us regular guys.
But on the bright side, somehow someway things will work out.
When demands slack off, things will adjust.

The auction for Chete concession is on the 22nd, so there is a very real possibility that there will be a new concession holder........who may or may not want you to sell his hunts!

The price are to high for me.

Also remember that Zim Parks have put up the price for different game. Mart can correct me if I am wrong but I think Buff have gone up by over US$1000. Heavens know how much Ele, Hippo and others have gone up.

I come back from hunting with Marts crew last month. I was hoping to be able to go back in 2015 after Hippo and another Buff but will have to wait and see what happens price wise.

Wow!

How can someone come here and offer a hunt for a concession that has not even been allocated for the next season?

This just speculation - trying to punt on the Mozambique situation.

My PH an I are putting one togather in 2014 for $13,000 trophy bull and $900 a day for ten days. Let you know how it works out. It is in Zim also.
