Hello-

My name is Jim Welles. I own and operate JFW Ranch Consulting, LLC, with my wife Kelly at 10600 Eagle Rock Ave, Albuquerque, NM 87122. My office phone number is 505.294.7861. My cell number is 505-967-6562. Our e-mail address is JFWRC@comcast.net. Kelly and I have been guiding and outfitting in NM over 25 years now.

We have been donating 100% hunts to El Ranchito de Los Ninos for over 15 years now. This is a fine organization and so far the kids who stayed have grown up to go to college and do great in their life endeavors. The founder is a great friend of mine. We have hunted together for over 30 years now.

Background: In 2000, El Ranchito de los Niños was founded by Mike and Kathy Mechenbier, local ranchers and farmers who saw a need to provide a permanent home for sibling groups who were separated in foster care. The children of El Ranchito are raised as a family in a rural farm setting, taught responsibility and educated as a means of building a foundation and breaking the cycle.

What Makes El Ranchito Unique:
· Accept children of all ages (0-18 years)
· Accept sibling groups
· Long term placement (many children stay 10 years+)
· Placement can be voluntary, private or court referred
· Provide transition services such as job training, workforce or college once a
child has turned 18
· Home apartment available for children over 18 for sibling visits, holiday
breaks, etc.,

The Mechenbiers own a 225,000+ acre ranch west of Belen NM that is home to some great bull elk hunting. They need to take some management bulls. These bulls will be up to 330 B&C. Guides will be the judge in bulls to be harvested. All proceeds of hunts on the ranch go to the Childrens Home and clients write their checks directly to the home making the donation eligible for a tax deduction.

The Mechenbiers want to harvest 4 management bulls. Dates are to be determined but will likely take place between the end of October up to the middle of November or at the end of December. A requirement of this offering is that hunters must either be in a pair guided 1x1 or all four at once (2x1). Accommodations will be at the owners home with excellent meals. Field meat and trophy care is provided. A landowner authorization is provided. State license is the responsibility of the hunter.

The tax deductible donation to El Ranchcito for a hunt is $8,500 ea. This offering truly is for a good cause. The link to the childrens home is below.

A short video clip of the ranch and bulls on the ranch can be provided upon request. Some of you out there may recognize this organization and ranch as their trophy hunts have been auctioned at Wild Sheep in Reno for the last 2 years.

Please call Kathy at Mike’s office for more details and requests to set a hunt up. The contact number is 505-345-2694. Ask for Kathy.

If you are in the 39.6% income tax bracket and have a 5% state income tax rate, this hunt is costing you $4702. If all of your income is derived from investments, you are out of pocket $4386.

Jim, I assume the checks/payment is directly to the 501(c), right?

Do the hunt for every reason BUT tax reasons. When you donate, then receive something of value in return, the IRS, well ...you know the rest. sofa

Damn, I'll keep abreast of this for years to come. I never knew of such an organization. We have 3 kids at home, and one married. It would kill them to be separated, what a noble practice.

+1 To Surgeon Slut... the "actual value" of the hunt will be applied and you can deduct the portion over that as tax deductible... good luck.

Thanks Ross and for the additional posts. Please know that I am in no way receiving anything of value by mentioning this opportunity on AR. Mike is a great friend of mine and the hunt is awesome and cause is perfect. Thanks AR. Jim

I cannot say at this point. Mike was told by his biologist that he needed to start taking more bulls. He is starting with 4 this year. Probably would be best to call his office and ask for Kathy. The number is 505-345-2694.
