DISCOUNTED BUFFALO & ELEPHANT

This 200,000-acre communal area has never been commercially hunted. It borders the Letaba River opposite the Mthimkulu communal area. Mthimkulu is hunted by Johan Hermann of Rigby Big Game Safaris, and was recently reported on in The Hunting Report. Hermann has just acquired access to this new area, and hunters taking advantage of this opportunity will be the very first to ever hunt there! We have 10 buffalo left and four elephant available and are offering special pricing on buffalo & elephant hunts for this season only, good through March 2010. We have reports available from numerous Global Hunting Resources clients and Hunting Report members who have already hunted the adjoining area in 2009. Both elephant hunters have shot bulls over 60 lbs, plus numerous 41- to 45-inch buffalo as well!! We will happily provide references and photos of recent trophies!

After spending 10 days hunting this area, and seeing hundreds of buffalo and easily 30-40 bulls over 40". I am thoroughly convinced this is ONE of the single best places on the African continent for big buffalo & elephant. I spoke with Johan just yesterday, they shot two more big bulls since I left a week ago, one going 45". To date, all 6 ELEPHANT bulls they have shot have gone over 60lbs, and I expect the remaining 4 will be the same! The area is NOT subject to migration dependency, or other contributing factors that sometimes make the area void of game. Although you are occasionally frustrated by the game on the other side of the river scenario, there are plenty within the communial hunting area as well. These animals are truly wild, and can come and go as they please! I just can't imagine wild buffalo and elephant hunting getting any better than this!!!

Accommodations too were very good, and in fact if just the usual 2 clients are in camp, the rooms are actually very nice. FOOD was top notch, to say the least. Every single night we had steaks, pork chops, wild game, etc, etc. That was awesome for me, as I am a REAL meat guy!! Getting to Mthimkulu is extremely easy, requiring only a short 55 minute commercial flight from Joberg to Phalaborwa. No expensive charters are necessary, no tetsee flies to put with, good weather, and very little chance of Maleria. Local cell phone service can be had at some points in the hunting area, making communication easy, but of course I brought my SAT phone too. Kruger park is a short drive, allowing additional activities for the hunter or his family. Overall, just a REALLY GOOD PLACE!!

Buffalo Package – 7 days at $15,000, including trophy fee for one buffalo. Regularly priced, $22,000.


Two-Buffalo Package – 10 days at $28,000, including trophy fees. Regularly priced, $36,000.


Elephant Package – 10 days at $20,000, plus a trophy fee of $350 per pound of ivory on the biggest side. Regular Price - $25,000.00 plus trophy fee


Elephant/Buffalo Packages – can be arranged upon request for 14 days. Please contact for details.

Prices include all food/lodging, outfitting, and guiding. Plus transfer from Phalaborwa to camp and return.

Gee, you are better off just booking two 7 day hunts back 2 back - you get four extra hunting days for about 25% of the "normal" cost.

AnotherAZWriter - Two - 7 day hunts will cost $30,000.00, a 10-day (2) buffalo hunt is $28,000.00. Two grand less, and about 5 days longer than one will likely need to shoot two big bulls!

What 14 days should I schedule you for??

It’s been almost a month since I returned from my buffalo hunt with Johan and I wanted to let you know that I am still just as excited as the day I left camp. Seems like in the hunting world the phrase “hunt of a lifetime” is seriously over used. I’ve been on over 65 professionally guided hunts, and this was my “trip of a lifetime”. Hunting with Johan in this area is about as close to old Africa as one can get. It is hard to imagine seeing 42+” buffalo nearly every day. Some days I saw over 200 animals. Like Johan told me, “ this area hasn’t been hunted for 5 years, it hasn’t been hunted for 20 years, it has never been hunted.”

Everything on this hunt was first class from the vehicles,to the staff, to the accommodations and the amount of game present. Johan is one of the most competent professional hunters I have ever had the pleasure to hunt with. His has a huge amount of youthful enthusiasm and the game skills of someone who has been in the field for 50 years. My only problem the entire time was passing on so many animals that were truly magnificent trophies. I don’t think I have ever seen a buffalo who has been thru as many battles as the monster I took had. From his scared face, to his torn ears to his 6 inch stub of a tail he was truly a great warrior and will have the place of honor in my trophy room.
