I think this was a hunt for "money eaters" and not for man-eaters. If anyone took the bait, their money was likely eaten.

having hunted with Walter, i think you don't know what you are talking about. he spends most of his season in the bush and can't access the internet. Moz is a bit like the Wild West- untamed- and the local authority seem to be able to play a little bit fast and loose with the laws. for sure they don't much give a crap about the local folk- until elections come around.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

OR Walter thought he was bigger than this and decided to piss off like he said he would. He's a good guy and wo'nt post a dodgey hunt. Been in the DG game too long. If he gives a reason for something, take it on face value or leave it alone. One of SA's few realy good DG PH's.....And yes, he is a very good friend of mine.

Well ,

All I can say is thank you too my very good friends and clients out there,

I am back from Moz, prematurely as I had a severe case of trying too cut of my own hand whilst skinning a 15 foot crocodile,

So had too drive 1700 km back too SA, with one hand, and got operated on yesterday, and then open AR now and find out all the idiots are still alive and well.

The lioness was shot, by a Swede , the hunt was not my favorite, I hate shooting female lions, but she had killed and would have killes again, we battled too find them, as the locals would not assist at all, the lion being there local spirit animal, and

for the idiots out there I am not even going too bother explainiung that one,

Swede shot was not great, so we followed up on foot , at night, with Surefire flahslights, as I could not leave it wounded so close too a village ( the 500 NE Sabatti in my hands were sure a comofrt)

Saw the lioness , thanks too the eyes refelcting and Swede pulle a great quick shot, so she was dead, the male I never saw, but heard him callling for her, but he nver came in on bait or caller, his tracks vanishing into the Chiputo mountains , so where he went I do not know, tried finding him the last 2 weeks tooo no avail, but he will be back too hunt humans again, of that I am sure

Took a couple of great crocs this year, hippos were a bit scarse, not in numbers but really big bulls, why I have not figured out yet,

The poaching is rife on the North side, plains game is getiing hammered by Lion, leopard, and a pack of wild dogs, so there coem back will be slow at the least,

So too all the idiots have a great day, too my friends, have a extremely wonderfull life and be blessed

On a side note, it was a pleasure meeting you whilst I was in Joburg last month, and rest assured, I'll be doing that croc/hippo hunt with you sooner than later. Sounds like too much fun not to.

"Idiots" are those that would expect a man to have Internet service in the middle of nowhere and think that one should not carry on with business as usual until they update their thread over here at AR Wink

If you start a thread backed up by a "sob sob" story about people getting gobbled up, etc. and knowing you cannot follow it up, don't start it in the first place.
Nowhere does it say that: "I'm leaving within the next 24 hrs., will have no communication with the rest of the world and won't be back for 2 months"

Yeah, we're all idiots !

no, we are not all idiots- only you and a few others. this man is PH and outfitter who spends about 6 months of the year in bush Africa. internet service is a BIT limited. why don't you tell us about your vast amount of experience living 6 months of the year incommunicado in the bush- and i don't mean a game ranch in RSA or Namibia.

Any man who runs a business in a serious manner will have some form of administrative assistance and in today's day and age,
satellite communication is within everybody's reach - even we idiots have them and also have the courtesy to use them.
How many clients who go on safari disconnect themselves from their business or their family?
Are they idiots as well? - choose your words before you blow your vuvuzela!

Wellcome back and thank you for letting us know about the story.
I´m really sorry for your hand, hope you will be totally recover soon and do not loose any movement capability.
It´s a pity the lion escape, they are extremely intelligent creatures sometimes, I agree they will come back to kill people again.
It´s a great story, anyway.

It is mere courtesy on the part of the poster to close the thread in an appropriate manner, ie:

"Thanks guys, hunt is sold" - what's the big deal with that?

All the BS about being in places likened to the Wild West doesn't hold water.

And no, I have absolutely NO safari experience I just read Boddington's books and watch MS's videos Wink

As far as name calling is concerned you can put those where the sun don't shine.

Have a nice day.

Peers to be a few trolls in the water.

The way this thread went if I was in Walter's shoes and was able to check in I would have PM'ed any serious inquiries and ignored the idiots. Why should he spend his limited time defending the way the Moz government was handling the licenses? Those of you that showed no serious interest in what was being offered didn't offer any courtesy and don't deserve any in return.
