Hello:

My name is Jim Welles. I own and operate JFW Ranch Consulting, LLC, with my wife Kelly at 10600 Eagle Rock Ave, Albuquerque, NM 87122. My phone number is 505.294.7861. Our e-mail address is JFWRC@comcast.net. I have been a registered outfitter in NM for 18+ years.

As mentioned in our original ad, we just secured the rights to the 45,000 deeded acre Lobo Ranch located 1 hour west of Albuquerque on the SE slopes of Mt. Taylor. We are honored to have this ranch to offer NM Bull Elk Hunting. Although the ranch receives in excess of 50 Mature Bull and Archery (ES) landowner authorizations, management of the LOBO is conservatively hunting only 11 total bulls on this ranch.

We have decided to lower the price of the hunts on these ranches and throw in either Bear, Barbary, or Lion as a no charge/no kill fee bonus.

The cost of the LOBO Oct 1-5 Elk hunts are $5,250 + NM Gross Receipts tax. After the Oct 1-5 timeframe, the elk hunts are reduced to $4,750 + NM Gross Receipts Tax. The bonus species applies here as well. These hunts are all inclusive with exception of state licenses.

The original ad link is below. There is much discussion to filter through and pictures of the ranch. Thank you.

This link below will take you to a youtube video filmed on the Lobo Ranch last year. The Jim in the video is not me but "Jim" the ranch manager. He was asked to take one of the owners friends out and they filmed the hunt. Its a pretty nice video....well put together no doubt. Signed: The other Jim.

This photos were taken this morning on a small portion of the 45,000 deeded acre Lobo. Luke and Jim counted 17 bulls between 7-10AM. These are some of the better photos.

Jim, how rough a hunt is this in your honest opinion? I've had 4 knee surgeries so ball busters are out for me. Thanks.

JG Raider-

Our goal would be to hunt as hard as you are capable. If you think its getting to rough, "say get me to an easier part of the ranch." The late season timeframes will be mostly spot and stalk, we use Kawasaki Mules and vehicles as best as possible and there are good chances that you would be able to harvest something not to far from either......guides would like that as wellSmiler

There are some rough areas......we hope we don't push the elk so hard that they retreat to that domain.

The link below will take you to the owners site that will give you more photos to ponder.

Take a look at this video as well.

This is not ours but I do think it give you an honest representative view of a hunt.

Still have 3 hunts to sell....

Situation ethics-This bull is 70 yards from you and you have a .50 cal muzzy. Would you place a 250 grain round center where the red hair stops along the top of his neck?

Not along the top of his neck but on the side of his neck where the red hair stops so it will drive into the vitals.

This was a contest wasn't it? Did I win a free hunt? dancing

Tom-others have different answers.......remember it says "ethics"......you and I might think we can make it happen and watch that sucker drop with legs up in the air. Others seem to think he'll turn broadside.......and, actually he does. Jimbo

3 spots remain, including the only 2 that have mule deer included as a "no charge added option." These hunts are Nov 10-14.
