I have just been advised of our remaining openings for Newfoundland Moose:
Oct 16-21, Oct 23-28, and a couple of weeks in November. One Caribou tag; hunt is $7,000 as they only have one tag each year. Cost this year is $4,000 for the 5 day Moose hunt. Includes 2x1 guiding (if one hunter scores, then he/she may be 1x1 or put with another 1x1), food (3 meals per day), your Moose tag, lodging, field prep of game and transport to locker for processing. Camp is remote, but has flush toilet, hot showers and the home cooked meals left no one hungry last year. The absolute best seafood chowder I have ever tasted (thanks Ms Kay). I had a great time myself and would recommend this to anyone. Most will fly into Deer Lake (I advise arriving a full day early just in case of flight delays). Good motels and restaurants in town. We rented a van and drove down to Stephenville, two days early then drove down to the meeting place in Crabbes River. Our guides met us there and we loaded up and followed them to the locker plant (en-route to camp). Left our vehicles there and went with our guides to camp. Transportation during the hunt is various ATV's and 4x4 trucks. Walking distances are suited to all physical types. Guides will consider your requests. Lots of Moose, some Caribou. I don't think it would be too difficult to tag a Caribou for the stealthy hunter with good aim. My meat was boned, cut and vacuum sealed to my exact requests, frozen and shipped to the locker in GA. I drove down and picked it up. It, my Bear hide and antlers arrived in perfect condition. Very pleased with the hunt and the Moose is by far the best tasting antlered game in North America IMHO. Crabbe's River is the Outfitter. Camps are restricted to a maximum of 6 hunters each week. Average Moose (you can get a bull, cow or either tag) hunter takes young bulls or cows for meat. Trophy class bulls are there for those who want to hunt hard and have luck on their side. If it is possible, I will try and put a group of AR hunters in one camp. To answer some questions: Deposit is $1,000 per hunter (covers your license/tag) and is paid directly to the outfitter. Sleeping bags are not required but no problem should you wish to bring one. Moose rut is generally late September, early October. Last year it started in early October and continued into the later part of the month. You have the option of having a bull/cow tag (if nothing changes). Moose are taken to a local locker where they are butchered to your specifications, vacuum sealed, frozen and shipped to your nearest freezer plant via truck, sometime in early December. Current price of $4k is a $500 discount over my standard price of $4,500. LDK

Due to some rearranging dates, I have these openings for Newfoundland Moose - Black Bear hunts. I can take 1 or 2 hunters for either week: 17th - 22nd and 24th - 29th of September, and one opening for the 8th - 13th of October 2017. Fly into Deer Lake, rent a vehicle or arrangements can be made to pick you up for $100 each way. Good motels & restaurants in Deer Lake or Stephenville. Cost is $4,000 for Moose (includes your Moose tag/license). 5 day hunt, fully guided, all meals and lodging. $500 for bear license, $500 trophy fee if you kill. Processor is local to the area and does of good job of cutting and vacuum sealing cuts. Good Moose are available for those willing to hunt hard. I've hunted here personally and had a great time taking a huge Black Bear and bull Moose. Contact me for details.

2019 update: I have an opening for two Moose/bear hunters for October 6-11. Round trip pick up/return to Deer Lake airport $150 each hunt ($75 each way) or you can do like we did rent a vehicle and drive in (long drive to Crabbe's River. Cost remains $4,000 USD which includes your Moose tag. Trophy/Meat is taken to the local locker for processing and shipment (some of the finest venison you'll ever enjoy). Ships out in early December by reefer transport to your nearest locker. We hunted about this same time and the rut was still valid.

Some have asked me about the quality of Moose meat. All I can say is; Fantastic!
