The hippo/croc camp is on the lake. The main hunting camp is about a half day from the Lake only because the road are so horrible. I'm sure some fishing could be arranged.

I just got a solicitation for a 10 day, 2 buff hunt in TZ in a good area with a famous PH. $46,000 including charter. This is dirt cheap.

I should have said that the charter was estimated to be $12,000 on this hunt above.

Your right. For $46,000 in Gokwe north you could have two buff, hippo, croc, a variety of PG, 18 days hunting and get considerable change back. No its not Tanzania but it would be a heck of a deal with quite a bit of shooting.

I've hunted with Gary in TZ he is one heck of a man..if you meet up with him ask him about the plane wreck and his burns or his rugby playing days.

I hunted with Gary last year, and had a great time. The area is just as Mark describes it, and is some really pretty country with some great overlooks.

Gary is a great guy, and his trackers are top notch.

I would be booking one of these hunts if I wasnt still financially recovering from last year!

Gary is a good guy- if i weren't headed to Namibia next week i'd love to do this hunt. There is no doubt in my mind Gary would work his ass off to be successful.

I hunted Gokwe North with Dudley, Clinton was PH (awesome PH). I loved the stilted camp on the Ume, very unique, elephants roaming around camp at night.
Plenty of elephants along the Ume river. That is where I shot my first elephant, a non-trophy bull. Gokwe North is a huge area and I did not see much of it above the Ume camp. I would go late, the Jesse is thick.
I would add days because of the size of Gokwe. I don't know Gary but this should/could be an awesome hunt and unbelievable prices.

I hunted with Gary back when he was just learning .. He was 24. It was interesting ... Also back in 1989 we were coming back overland from Chete in four ancient land rovers. Three broke down en route with the last one at Gokwe. The Outfitter, the late Dave Masson went over to a store and brought back a bag of meat pies .. The place did not look very inviting and I consider those meat pies from long ago one of the most delicious meals ever on a hunting trip ...
