I am offering Alpine or Pyrenean chamois (Isard) hunts in France, buyer to select.

Dates are September into January - depending upon the species that you plan to hunt and the area we select.

Below are photos of a pyrenean chamois hunt from last week. Our client shot a female first and then went on to take a very good male.

The hunts are 4 nights and the cost is 1600 euros:

Price includes:

Transport during the hunt
Board in country hotels or B&B
Food + wine with your meal

Does not include:

Hunting licence - 120 euros
Chamois Tag - 500 euros, payable in advance
Trophy fee - 1000 euros, on wounding or taking of animal.
Trophy preparation and paperwork - 50 euros/trophy
Cost of shipping at clients expense
Hotel and transport before of after the hunt
Observer 150 euros/night


Rifles: We can supply a rifle and ammunition at no cost or hunters can take a rifle. Taking a rifle to France is no problem we will need all rifle details ahead of time for your gun permit. No Military calibers allowed.

Transport: Probably best to fly in to Paris and then a fast train to nearest town closest to hunting area, where the guide will meet you. We can arrange for the guide to also meet you in Paris and travel down with you.

These hunts are tailored to suit the hunters physical abilities, You dont have to be in super shape, but it is a mountain hunt, so expect some walking, climbing. You will see lots of Chamois on these hunts so taking a good trophy is generally not a problem.

If you wish to take more than one chamois add an extra day. Depending upon the area you can also hunt Mouflon (tag 500 euros, trophy fee 800 euros). In September it may be possible to also try for Roe deer but it is not the best time for Roe deer.

What are the locations/logistics for the Alpine and the Pera? Looking to maybe do both.

Three questions:

Is a rifle available and at what cost.
Cost for guide meeting in Paris and traveling with to hunt area.
Is there a time when roe deer possible as well?

I'm not Reddy but i can answer on the roe deer question.

when Chamois/isard is open in France at least in September and some places october, most of the hunts for roe deer are done by driven beats can be interesting if you want to meet fellow hunters with a different hunting culture. plus hunting roe when its not rutting time can be very very hard : most of the bucks will be well hidden in the wood and forests.

Sorry I was away at SCI, but to answer your Qs:

We have a rifle you can use at no extra charge.
No extra cost for the guide to meet you in Paris, you will have to buy your own train tkt to the town closest to the hunting area.
Roe deer is good till August. However there are some areas they can be hunted in September. Best to combine the Chamois hunt with Mouflon or Red Stag (small trophies). Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Renaud has finally produced his video on hunting Chamois. We still have a few spots open for this season. This is a smoking deal, a little research will quickly tell you that the trophy fee on chamois hunts from other outfitters range anywhere from $5,000 to $7500. This is a real cool hunt, we offer both Alpine as well as Pyrenean Chamois.

I have added an extra day to the original offer of 3 days as Renaud (the outfitter) felt that its better to have an extra day to account for bad weather and also take time to look for a good trophy. You can take 2 if you wish, but need to let us know ahead of time.

on a side note dont bring any turrets fitted on your scope with distance setting over 300 meters they re illegal.

I take it 30-06 is considered a military caliber. What then are acceptable caliber/cartridge combinations?

a lot of guys are using 7x64 and x65r and more the wsm.

maybe they will change it but the 30-06 this is still a no no ...

You can use any caliber you wish to, just not a current or past military caliber (308, 30-06, 223 etc). There is talk of the rules being changed!! Any flat shooting caliber will do. However the Europeans are not crazy about shooting at 100s of yards so I would not worry about having to shoot at extreme ranges. These are small animals so a 270 or 7mm rem will be fine.
