Last Minute Sonora Mexico Hunt

drummondlindseyLast Minute Sonora Mexico Hunt
It appears that I have a group of 4 guys that will not be hunting with me the first week of January. I wont go into details
at this time at this time as I am still holding out hope that the booking agent that begged me to find something for them will come through and deposit the funds for the hunt that he promised 3 weeks ago. At this point it doesn't look good, he has not returned a phone call or an email in over a week and there has been no contact with him since his email to us on October 5th stating that the deposits were in his hand and that he would wire us the funds on October 8th
Anyway, the details are in this thread here along with pictures...
http://forums.accuratereloadin...2100588/m/4521093571I left the booking agent another message today and sent him an email letting him know that I was going to try and sell the hunts. First deposit in hand secures the spots. I genuinely hope that he comes through with this as we literally put together a custom package for him and his clients and bent over backwards to accommodate all of his requests
Hunt date: January 1-8 2013
Price: $8000 base fee and $2500 harvest fee. I am willing to drop the price of the base fee by 10% if a group takes all 4 spots which would make it $7200+$2500
Please let me know if you have any questions

You have no idea how bad this sucks! The booking agent emailed my partner and I and said funds were on the way and we went ahead and locked everything up and he drops off the face of the earth. No phone call to say he wasn't coming, nothing!
I told him for a month that I didn't have anything and he persisted and literally BEGGED us to make it work. We did and he bailed and we're out a substantial amount of money.

Reminds me of the time when I was a kid. There was a show called "Outdoor Life." My dad asked me if I wanted to go fishing, and I said, "I can't - Outdoor Life is on TV."
He said, "Do you want to watch it or do it?"
I went fishing.

I can understand why you are reluctant to reveal the villains names, and I hope this thread is successful in making them do what they said they would do. People don't give a damn for the value of their word these days. It amazes me.
Frankly I think they will not perform and I hope you will name names. Good luck.

LabmanWhen the time is right, please do name the booking agent. Obviously someone that all AR members would want to avoid.

At this point I am waiting to see if the agent does anything at all, even if its just an apology. I can say, as a point of fact, that this is not the first time he has screwed people and that there are some negative things about him here on AR. I was unaware of the negativity surrounding the guy when I decided to try to help him out
Crazy thing is that he had already emailed me a contract so I am wondering if we have any recourse

I am of the firm belief that if more of these guys received a moderate to severe ass whooping for these types of actions that they'd cease a desist in the future. But hey that's just one mans opinion.....

I learned this lesson in real estate: it only takes a day to wire money, and they are about impossible to screw up.
So if you don't see your money by the next day, you are screwed. Even Mexico is a slow to pay country, but our payroll there always clears in one day.

I am giving the agent EVERY opportunity to fulfill his contractual obligation to us before it gets really ugly.
I sent him an email today and it seemed to have gotten his attention. We'll see if he deposits the funds

The only time you can screw a wire up is if you send the wrong account number , or the wrong bank name...
Even then, you should have your "sent" confirmation reciept while things get cleared up.
So no excuse, I agree.

Nothing yet but I got this persons attention when I emailed him and CC'd some people that he has had dealings with in the past. It went from ZERO contact in over a month to multiple phone calls and emails.
As it stands he has acknowledged that he owes me the deposit per his contract and emails. He has sworn up and down that he will make this right and I have this documented.
We will see what happens but I'll give this person an opportunity to make this right before I blow the lid off this guy

Mike SmithYou have a great reputation and run first class hunts. Those are some monster mulies you take. I know how the costs have risen for these hunts. I also understand you have to make a profit to stay in business. I am not knocking you, the hunt or certainly the trophies. Maybe I am just cheap. I am just having trouble wrapping my head around 9k for a deer hunt. Any deer hunt. I guess I will go back to Africa when I am able. That or stick to cull hunts. Lots of trigger time but fairly low cost. Now that I am on a fixed income I guess I have become more sensitive to all of the pricing increases out there. I get a bit of sticker shock now. That said I think it is more me than any outfitter out there. Hope you sell these hunts. I wish they were still in my reach. maybe someday. If the clown that stiffed you still owes for the deposit, is the 9k with or without that price being deducted?

The only problem is that you won't find Muleys like this in Africa. Maybe it's a business opportunity for an enterprising game farmer in South Africa.

Shoot Mike,
Out here in unit 105 on private land in Colorado there are guys charging $12,000 for a mule deer hunt and are booked up years in advance. And they aren't shooting the quality deer that I'm seeing in these photos for the most part. I think it's crazy too, but apparently there are guys willing to pay it so that is where the market is topping out now.
There are guys paying MORE than that to shoot a high fenced recently released guaranteed "record book" whitetail in Texas. I don't get it but then again it's what some folks are willing to pay for an ego boost I guess. Kind of like paying for a high dollar smoking hot hooker then bragging to all your friends what ladies man you are..
At least in Mexico and Colorado you are hunting free range deer and there is possibility that you aren't going to make a kill. AKA hunting which makes it a legit in my book, unlike the put and release outfits mentioned above.

He says he is wiring a deposit tomorrow. It appears as if he has them booked and he has been in constant communication with me so that's been a plus
I will update the thread if anything changes but it appears that we are booked
Thanks guys!

Mike SmithDrummond, No offense buddy and I am pulling for you. That said if he stiffed you once what is another go around? If you do not have the deposit as promised tomorrow it is time to light the torches, round up the villagers, and hand out the pitch forks.

If they do come through make sure everything is paid up front. It wouldn't be the first time a client has tried to stiff an outfitter by skipping the country without notice.
