Now that Marco Polo trophies are importable again. I thought i would put this out there to see if anyone here is interested in a hunt in Kyrgyzstan.

We still have some availability this year and we can also hold these rates for 2026 with a deposit.

Mid Asian Ibex 2x2 $8,800 per hunter. 1x1 basis $9,900 - 5 hunting days

Marco Polo $33,500 - 7 hunting days

Marco Polo and Ibex hunt $39,000 - 10 hunting days

Cost above includes everything except:

VIP service at Bishkek airport $100
Alcoholic drinks
Non planned transfer by car $300
Hotels and meals outside camp
Packing and Shipment of trophies
2nd Ibex $5,500
Wolf $3,000

Fly in to Bishkek and transfer by road to base camp - 8 to 10 hours depending on camp. Next day you will set off on horse back to fly camps where you will hunt from.

Last year the average on Ibex was just over 40" and the biggest was 49.5"
Marco polo averaged 50" biggest was 55".

Thanks for your time.

Help me understand your offer. I am in the market for this type of hunt but my understanding is that technically, these aren't Marco Polo but instead are Hume Argali?

Is that the case or are these hunted on the other side of some river another booking agent had mentioned to me at the Sheep Show? I haven't looked at the GSCO guidebooks in a long time.

Please PM me with availability for a chat.

Sir PM sent.

For general information.

1) USFW recognizes any sheep being imported in to the States from Kyrgyzstan as Marco Polo and do not differentiate between Marco Polo and Hume Argali.
2) SCI and GSCO classifies sheep from a certain region in Kyrgyzstan as a Hume Argali. If you wish to enter your trophy in their record book as a Hume Argali then the outfitter will organize your hunt in that area.
3) If you wish to enter your sheep as a Marco Polo then the outfitter will arrange your hunt in the area that SCI and GSCO recognizes

The Naryn river forms the geographical boundary between different sheep according to these classifications. However the river is frozen for many months of the year and the sheep cross over from one side to the other. As far as the locals go they consider them all as the same sheep the Marco Polo! The hunt is the same and the price is the same.

To my mind the real question should be what is the difference between a Marco polo hunt in Kyrgyzstan v/s Tajikistan?

In Tajikistan the holy grail is 60" in Kyrgyzstan it is 55 inches
In Tajikistan the hunt costs roughly $10,000+ more than in Kyrgyzstan
In Tajikistan the hunt is at a much higher altitude than Kyrgyzstan where you see many hunters having problems with the altitude
In Tajikistan the hunt is a lot of driving around and shooting at long ranges. In kyrgyzstan its a proper horseback hunt, where you will ride to spike camp and hunt from there everyday on horseback

In Tajikistan you can hunt two species of Mid Asian Ibex, different areas. The Ibex in the MP area is referred to as the Pamir Ibex and have a white saddle similar to the ones in Kyrgyzstan. In Kyrgyzstan you will have a better chance at a bigger Ibex.

Hi Arjun,

Is there full time English interpreter on the hunt or how is the language barrier handled?

Are you directly involved in outfitting these hunts or how is does that work?

Just curious as I've been very interested in a Marco Polo hunt but have had some reservations.

Thanks for any info.

Hello Chris,

I am a full time booking agent. We organize hunts all over the world. We also exhibit at 3 of the major hunting shows each year. As with other countries, I work with a partner in Kyrgyzstan.

Call me at your convenience and I will be happy to answer all your questions. I am based in NY.

Thanks,

Arjun Reddy

Cannot agree more with the difference between Hume and Marco Polo. Had the same experience in Kyrgyzstan.

The VIP service is highly recommended

Never been to Tajikistan but the altitude is, for what I've seen and heard, is a complete challenge unless you spend no less than 4 days to acclimatize, which I consider a must.

In Kyrgyzstan my hunt for both animals was conducted between 3500 and 4500 meters...not easy...horses are a must.
