Namibia Visa Requirement

In the process of getting organized for hunt next month in Namibia, I became aware of their requirement for visitors to obtain a visa to enter the country effective April 1, 2025. Visa application is available online or can be applied for on arrival from many countries, US included. US State Dept. suggests visitors apply online, but looking at the online requirements I think it’ll be hard to comply with their requirements, among other things they ask for bank statements from visitor and the person that invited the traveler, I’d assume this would be ones outfitter and I wouldn’t be comfortable giving this sort of info to just anyone. Anyone else running into this?

I haven't been to Namibia since 2007. Didn't need a visa then, but I've never had a country ask for banking information to get a visa.

We were there 3 years ago and no visa needed, these regs became effective 4/1/25. There is a provision for quite a few countries to get visa on arrival, US included. But…last trip it took almost 3 hours to get thru immigration, I can just imagine the delay while dozens of people try and complete visa application. Link below, scroll down to “holiday visa”.

Karl,

Keep us up dated on your process.

I am not sure what Namibia is looking for with the banking information.

Like you said, i am not giving that information out.

Some years back, certain companies in the UK were asking for a 3 month bank statement before they could full fill a credit card order!

Told them to take a hike!

We have dedicated companies here who do visa for people.

I am sure you have those too.

A bit of an update… I spoke with one of the Consulars today about this, he said he had just today received info and forms for visa’s. He said would forward to me as soon as he had reviewed it. He was unaware of some of the requirements on the Ministry website. We’ll see what it looks like when he sends.

I heard from the Consular today and he sent information on obtaining a “holiday” visa, the requirements on the documents he sent are much less onerous than those on the Ministry website. It looks to me like NAPHA got involved and changes were made. I will be applying for visas for way wife and myself tonight, hope it works Wink.
If anyone wants the info, PM an email and I’ll forward.

Been to Namibia numerous times. Great country. Planned to go again BUT tired of jumping through so many hoops. They dont need your banking information, they just WANT your banking information. Unless 5his changes I will spend my money somewhere else !

If the visa application I was sent is valid, this (and some other objectionable requirements) are no longer part of the process. Good thing, too, I’d bet a whole lot of travelers would spend their money elsewhere,

The "visa on arrival" application that was sent and is now available on line is simple. I filled mine out in about 10 minutes, paid and received the approved visa in about 10 minutes. Hopefully, this will speed things up upon arrival in Namibia.
