On the way back from Lusaka in July 2012 we will end up an overnight. We get in at 06:00PM and I haven't booked the next leg out yet but it will probably be early afternoon. Firearms are not an issue they will be stored by BA but I was wondering where other folks stayed that did this leg with an overnight before.

Cheers
Jim

Not a lot to do at Heathrow and its a bit of a hoof into the city from the airport. Not really worth the effort if you have to be right back the next day. There is a decent Hilton at Terminal 4 which you can easily get to by inter terminal trains. Might just book a room and have a bit of a lay in. The do have late check out.

Good luck and good hunting!

Jim,

We arranged a day room a couple of times at the Hilton BwanaCole mentioned but it was quite some time ago. Spendy if I remember but convenient. Can you overnight in the BA lounge?

Mark

I'm not sure Mark. I can tell you this. It's a lot harder to book mileage then it was a year and a half ago. I didn't realize the Olympics were in England and although not at the same time as our flights I think BA is being very stingy with their award seats because of it. Either that or just stingy for the sake of being stingy.

We at least got our legs in and out of Lusaka (World traveler plus for now), which was the leg I was most worried about. We will keep trying daily for the Business Class seats.

I didn't think about the cabanas in British first class at Heathrow. Maybe we can snag them for overnight or part of it. Like I said, I'll have to check on it.

Cheers
Jim

Depending on when you book your next flight out you might want to consider heading into London. Heathrow express runs every 15 to 30 minutes and gets you from Heathrow to Paddington Station in 15 minutes. Round trip ticket is 30 pounds I believe and they have ticket vendors right outside customs.

If you headed into the city and had most of the next day you could get a decent nights sleep and do some sightseeing or pub crawling.
