I'm trying to find a dependable converter to take on my trip for charging my ipad, camera batteries, etc. What brand/model travel converters are you pleased with for use in Zimbabwe? My PH has also requested I bring him one, and I'd hate for the converter to damage something he plugs into it. Product reviews on some travel store websites seem very inconsistent. Is it okay to use a converter with electronics that are dual voltage, or should you only use an adapter with those items. Thanks in advance.

the dual voltage chargers work OK, but you won't be able to plug them into anything without a converter. radio shack has them cheap (i think about 15) but also bring along a 12v converter. that way you can plug your cameras etc. into the lighter on the cruiser for a charge. especially important if the camp doesn't have electricity

I only use an adaptor for dual voltage appliances. When going in the "bush" I try to be independent of power source.

Consider a cigarette lighter charger- all the hunt vehicles will have the outlet and you will be independent of power grids- your hunting camp likely will not have electricity to plug your converter in to....... ______________________________ "Are you gonna pull them pistols,...or whistle Dixie??" I've used Powerline, Samsonite and Walkabout converters. Prices range fro $20 - $60. Last time in Zim I bought two Powerline converters so I could leave one with the outfitter.
