I am going to Suth Africa for a hunt in June. I have booked the United California - London - Johannesberg flights on frequent flyer miles (I travel an enormous amount for work and have a zillion of them). Is is possible to hire one of the hunting smart travel agents to make sure all the rifle notices and papework are done correctly. The folks at Gracy did it for me when I went to Tanzania a few years ago and I beleive everyones comments in the other thread on the value of a travel agent. I am perfectly happy to pay them reasonably since they wouldn't be getting a commission on a ticket. Does anyone have experience with do this or know of a good travel agent who would help?

Thanks

Brad

I did the same for my trip last Sept 2010. Gracy quoted me $650 per person even if I booked my own flights.

I talked with Steve Turner at SCI and he will do it for far, far less.

Kathi Klimes "backed me up" in case of emergency on that trip in September and then refused any money. I sent her Salmon. Big Grin

And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory

Steve Turner all the way. Far better than the rest in my mind and he does not charge for the phone call if you need him.

Brad,

If Gracy did a great job for you before why not use them again? I recommend all my clients use them and I would particularly recommend you ask for Shawn Kennedy. If you have loads of miles Shawn will be more than happy to set up your flights using the miles provided mileage seats are available.

Gracy also has staff on the ground in JNB which provides an invaluable service as meet/greet, gun permits, checking you in on your next flight and in the unlucky circumstance that you have lost luggage they will physically track it down. Hey! They had someone crawl in the belly of the plane and change the baggage tags for my clients after the ticket agent had mis tagged the bags. Gracy always gets my support 100%.
