I'm heading to Zim in June with Emirates, booked through Travel With Guns. They mentioned that my gun case could be up to 59". I'm taking a two-rifle Pelican case. Looking at the Emirates website today, they actually state "The total dimensions (length + width + height) of each piece must not exceed 150 cm (59 inches)." My Pelican case is 53x15x6, so over the total length limit. What have you Emirate travelers experienced with this policy? Thanks.

Don't worry. I took my Tuffcase and it bigger and under sporting equipment. They didn't bat an eye. You'll be fine.

Thank you. Trading emails with Travel with Guns today, they tell me that Emirates is very calm and professional about taking rifles as baggage, but they will want Customs form 4457, a letter of invitation from my outfitter, and the number of rounds I intend to carry per caliber. AND they want this 30 days prior to departure. I had expected to simply get a 4457 at the Seattle airport. I was surprised and pleased to find that Customs has an office near the Boise airport (30 minutes from my home), so I have an appointment for Thursday to get this document signed and stamped.

You'll have no trouble as long as you follow the rules and submit everything as early as they will allow. The people at Travel with Guns should be helping you with this.
