Back and forth to Texas at least twice a year with no probs. Just be prepared to pay a fee for each bag checked.

I flew American with guns in May of '09, without a hitch on the way over to South Africa. We flew from San Francisco to Los Angeles, then to London, all on American. Transferred to British Airways on to Johannesburg.

HOWEVER, we did have big problems on the way home that related to American. They would NOT let us on the flight from London to Boston with my guns. It was explained to me that American has no issue with people flying with firearms, but they do have an issue with them doing it to and from London. Apparently, the British government had fined American heavily for some firearms that were left unattended at Heathrow, so American changed their policy to no longer agree to transport firearms to and from London. It all got worked out easily enough, as British Airways agreed to fly us from London to San Francisco on American's behalf.

I would fly American with no hesitation if traveling with my guns, EXCEPT through London. British Airways was excellent, though those very small seats on their 747's are a pain in the ass, literally.

I have flown with them nationally and internationally with no problems on American. Just follow their procedures and TSA's and you will be fine. Flew to La on my way to a buf hunt in Australia last summer.Connected with Quantas and they[Quantas] are much more strict,, you have to have a dangerous materials permit for your ammo, permits, etc. The American leg was easy,, jsut show us they are unloaded and then Tsa's inspection,, lock em up and hope they are there with the rest of your stuff when you land!

you can make more money, you can not make more time
