quickshot:

If you go thru the new full body scanners you won't be able to take any money with you.

I have carried cash thru the x ray ones

You can always tell the TSA you are carrying a large amount of cash and wish to be patted down.

I carried my cash in a neck pouch last month while travelling. When it was time to go through security, I put it in my carry on and kept my eyes on the bag. After the bag came through, I put the neck pouch back on.

If you're carrying over $10,000 make sure you declare it with customs before leaving.

I always wear my "travel shirt" it has zip pockets under the regular button pockets and I carry my cash in a zip lock bag in the zip pocket and keep my mouth shut! Once when being patted down was ask what is in there and I said cash and he just smiled "OK".

I carry my cash in a zip lock bag in my front pants pocket. It stays there, no matter which manner of screening I am subjected to. Never had a problem.

I have a plastic zippered thin fanny pack that goes around the waste and is worn underneath the pants, never had it set any alarm off, also good for Mexico where they have been known to make you take off your belt during robberies!!

You have not gone thru a full body scan then.

One of the best ways of carrying cash while in transit I have found is one of the concealed carry shirts designed for handgun carry. The shirt has a pocket on each side of the chest that is big enough to hold a full sie 1911 so it will certainly hold your money on one side and the passport and travel vouchers on the other.

Yes I have, AZ Writer. They've simply asked me to examine the zip lock, seen it was cash, and I've been allowed to move on. Nothing beyond that.

Okay; I know if you have a single dollar in your pocket it will detect it. Went thru one today; I know it will detect a single piece of paper in your pocket.
