I use my Delta miles to fly USA to Paris and then to JNB on Air France. They fly Airbus. Can't beat the biz class cabin service.

PS: Usually stay several days in Paris/elsewhere b/4 going onward. Nice break to reset the circadian clock.

I just checked prices for my second safari. I will be leaving around the last day of September. The business class fare is up about 2/3's over the prior year at the same time.

Do the Delta business class seats fully recline on the flight from Atlanta - Jo-berg?

I use my amex platinum to maintain medallin gold and platinum status. I paid $4500 per ticket for round trip from albuquerqu NM to Joberg and back. Then I use 50,000 skymiles to upgrade my ticket to business class. I absolutely love delta. The flight directly from Atlanta to joberg on the delta 777-200 in business class are pods. Basically they are chairs that turn into beds. Im 6'4" tall and weigh 270 lbs. Im a body builder and my shoulders are usually taking up both seats next to me. Those lay flat pods/beds are the ONLY way I will fly. My leopard hunt in may is running me $4500/ticket. I then goto Botswana in September for my elephant and those business class seats are running my $4900. I still need to book my seats for my LDE/bongo hunt in January but that is a different route so im not sure if I will get a layflat or not.

But to answer your question since no one else did.... yes, they lay flat.

I've flown the jobber to paris leg. Paris to Atlanta, joberg to Amsterdam and Amsterdam to dallas and none of those flights had lay flat. The seats reclined just enough to get your hopes up but were uncomfortable due to the fact that they were slippery and the angle made you continuously slide towards the floor. On most of those other flight I would have to put my butt back in the seat after about 30 minutes and it got quite annoying. I haven't flown SAA business class but to say I look forward to a 14 hour solid flight says an awful lot for the delta business class.

I absolutely look forward to that flight. I arrive stress free and well rested and pampered to the greatest extend that can be afforded on a plane. On the return flight its almost like a mini vacation where you can kick back and relax from the massive amounts of exercise and lack of sleep one normally gets on a safari.

Hope this helps

PS. Im sorry to all the grammar Nazi's in advance

I MIGHT BE IN THE MINORITY, BUT WE HAVE FLOWN SAA TO AFRICA FOR ALL FIVE TRIPS. THE LAST TWO TIMES WERE BUSINESS CLASS AND WITH LUGGAGE CHECKED ALL THE WAY TO MAUN AND THEN CHARTER TO CAMP. WE MADE ALL CONNECTIONS INCLUDING THE CHARTER AND HAVE NEVER LOST A BAG. ON THE CONNECTION TO MAUN WE NEVER ENTERED JOBERG TO AVOID THE SAPS ISSUE!
