Just thought I'd share this since many are probably preparing for upcoming hunts.

In the past I've ordered replacement foam for the pelican 1750. you pay $65-$75 for the three piece set, when you only need the middle piece.

Well I found this place

http://www.foambymail.com/charcoal-foam.html

You can order pieces that are custom cut.
the 1750 dimensions are 13.5"x50.5" and thickness of 1.5" (for the middle piece)

total cost: $9.25/ea Smiler
the reg foam is what comes in the case from the factory, or you could go with the firm foam for a few bucks more.

a sharpie and an electric carving knife to cut your pattern and you're good to go.

+1, All 3 pieces of mine are carved to accomodate various rifles. Will be ordering a few.

Thanks!

Sweet. Was looking for a good Pelican foam.

I see they have pick and pluck foam as well at reasonable prices.

Just thought I'd give people a quick review on the foam. I received my order of it today. I ordered the regular density custom cut to the dimensions.

The foam is slightly different than that in my Pelican case (my case is about 8 years old), but it fits and feels like it will do the trick no problem. It is slightly softer than what Pelican uses, so I might suggest for other interested buyers to use the "Firm" foam.

Overall, very happy and thanks Bobby for finding this supplier!

Ordered some for my Boyt case. Be sure to unpack it as soon as you get it as they compact it very tightly and if left in packaging would probably deform. But as Sevens said looks like it will do a good job.

Bobby,

Thanks for the link. Just ordered 2 replacement sheets for my Pelican gun case, a full set of pick & pluck for a large camera box with enough left over to do a small pelican.

All for $80 including shipping. Not a bad deal! tu2
