Anyone else been booking using miles for June/July of 2012? British Airways has been stingy. In 2010 my booking using miles went rather easily.

Olympics of some type in London. I was able to get PHX to LHR to FCO all in First class using miles in June, but coming home they havent released anything from Italy to London at all for miles. Are your miles with an Alaska Airlines card?

Yes they are. I have first the whole way. ANC-LHR but only premium coach so far for the LHR - LUN and return. Waiting for some business class to be released.

My buddy is a travel agent and did the legwork for me with Alaska and BA. It isnt looking like, according to all the pro's, that much more is going to be released. We have our ride home from LHR to PHX in First booked with miles, but will have to pay for coach seats from Rome to LHR. There isnt even any coach seats available for reward travel.

I am feeling pretty lucky to have scored 3 fo 4 legs in first with miles.

A suggestion for you would be to use those miles with another carrier that you can use your miles from Alaska on.

I'm running into the similiar situation. The mileage seats are just not available as they have been in the past. I'm having to fly out of Chicago to use my miles period and Chicago is definitely out of way for me here in Cody.

Since the miles are with Alaska Airlines, I'd look into Delta since they are a code share partner.

We used miles last year to Joburg via ATL for First/Business Class. No problems at all, but we booked our seats as soon as the flight schedule was posted, which is typically about 11 months in advance.

Could be a toss up as we have to overnight in Chicago on the return. I'm sniveling a litte but I'm still saving a pant load. Our itinerary takes us to 3 African countries with a stop over in London for some recovery time. I hate to think what all that would have cost if I had to pay out of pocket.

Yeah I'm with you Mark, just sniveling as well. In 2010 I booked first class 355 days out for BA and 330 days out with AK Air and each leg went like clock work. This time around it's been a "grab what's available" thus the Vancouver detour.

In the way back we are LHR to Dallas and need to overnight there.

I'm told that some better routing may open up later and I keep checking daily. Only takes a five minute phone call to the partner desk.

I'm calm with it. As long as I got the trip laid out in order to get there and back I'm good. If the premium coach seats on the Lusaka leg get changed to Business I'll be a happy camper.
