Our Trophy shipment from RSA has arrived and cleared. It appears everything went smooth, this is a topic of conversation here so thought some might be interested: 1) Longest part of process was getting trophies dipped, packed and Vet Certs. I am not sure if this was our outfitter getting them to DonClaire or DonClaire getting them processed. We first heard from DonClaire the 3rd week of October (approx 8 months after hunt). DonCLaire was pleasant, organized and professional to work with. DonClaire notified us everything was packed and waiting for Vet Stamp 3/3/25, so about 3.5mos. Box was all capes, skulls and horns for 4-Kudu, 1-Mountain Reedbuck, 1 Nyala, 1 Red Hartbeest, total cost approx. $1500usd 2) Contacted by Anzelle Basson @ African Trophy Exports Pty Ltd on 4/14 (so a little over a month later), crate was 140x80x75cm and chargeable weight was 147kg, it would go on Turkish Airlines through Istanbul to Houston IAH. Anzelle included Joy Lanham at Trophy Shippers on everything. ATE total charges were $2,060. 3) Heard form Joy Lanham at trophy shippers 5/1 that package had arrived, cleared and was waiting for payment to be moved to Taxidermist. Their total bill was $1,130 So, $4,690 and 15 months. Everyone from the Outfitter to the end was professional, organized and helpful. It was expensive (nearly 80% the cost of one of the spots on the hunt). I was shocked how fast things happened once the shipping company had the box in RSA (basically 3 weeks to ship and clear in the US). I am interested to see my Taxidermists thoughts on the condition of the contents. | ||
