When I flew to Africa on my hunt I flew into Dubai at the end of daylight. When I flew home I flew into Dubai at first light. I had great anticipation to see the magnificent city. However, visibility was a mile or less on both trips. Tell me, was this pollution or dust from the desert winds? Have any of you noticed this?

If it was dust from the desert the jets would not fly and I didn't think Dubai has a large manufacturing sector to cause that much smog.

Didn't see any smog the three days we were there in 2015.

Could it be fog? I know in our area it is entirely possible to have limited visibility due to fog, usually in the mornings.

We do have fog sometimes.

And where I live it is absolutely horrendous!

It does not last once the sun is up, but in the evening it can be terrible.

I have had occasions driving back home at night where I had to leave the main road and stop for a while.

It comes in patches, and the thick ones make it totally invisible.

And we do have some sandstorms that do make visibility rather bad.
